I mean I have also watched or should I say read all of those. You know when you are one of those baka tsuki readers who wiped the entire site of all the translated novels. NGNL is amazing as a starting concept but it died somewhere, cannot remember where.
Hearing Baka-tsuki takes me back. I did not wipe the site, but I remember bookmarking the hell out of it those days too.

I also read some Chrome Shelled Regios there in addition to the stuff I have mentioned.

The site also helped push me to try writing. Too bad it's only now, with the quarantine last year, that I finally decided to not get lazy and start a big project of my own.

It is kind of bad but I should still say that I simp long silver-haired anime chicks. Preferably with no animal ears, though fox ears are barely passable. Felis from CSR was probably one of my earliest favored characters. Like anyone with long silver hair instantly gets +5/10 rating score in my books. That was how highly I overrated Tachibana Kanade from AB. Then, I realized that silver hair in reality is just depressing in most cases.

I'm so glad Felli won in CSR.

I also like Emilia more than Rem.

On another note, I think we're getting a bit off-topic now :blobrofl: Sorry

But then how do you compare Echidna to Emilia...also your DP is an instant 9/10 btw without any background lore or anything. Ahem, I write for all my silver-haired waifus and deep plot lores...it is still relevant...girigiri seifu.

One simple reason for me, it’s because i absolutely suck at writing. And since i choose violence for most of life i chose to beat my inability into submission by writing on a public platform so all could see as surmount this most difficult obstacle. The throw the baby into the water so it can learn to swim method.

Nakama power died in me after I got around 14-15 so one piece was meh to me by then. But before that, One Piece was my go-to for world lore while Bleach was for action. Naruto was just meh to me till Shippuuden but I already gave up on it by then.
Same. I've never been too fond of it. However, it's less cheesy offshoot, the "I trust you" power, I really love. So much that I ripped it off and used it for a volume climax in my series :blobrofl: Something like this

Thanks for the compliment. I still prefer Emilia over Echidna. I prefer the nicer, more vanilla characters most of the time. I also prefer Rieri over Sakamoto.

I would say my taste has grown as I aged.

My expectations are along the lines of:
Inuyasha
Haruhi
Trifecta (Naruto-Bleach-One Piece)
Dual harem fantasy (SnS and ZnT)
FMA (both original and brotherhood)
FSN
Kaze No Stigma
Hitman Reborn
GINTAMA (in all cap because it deserves all caps)
Hidan No Aria
SAO (Exists here but I never rated it highly besides volume 1)
Baka To Test
Mushoku Tensei (WN)
Tate Yuusha (WN)
Re:Monster
Kumo
Slime Tensei
Campione
Log Horizon
Heavy Object
Guilty Crown
AoT (I feel kind of mixed with this)

there was this huge void in between since it is just isekai generic trash to me. So I moved to KR and CN WN. Now, there is.

Re:Zero (barely meets the cut now imho, still pretty meh to me)

For romance:
Anything by key (Air 2002, Kanon 2006, Kelannad+Afta Story, AB 2010, LB 2013 iirc, Charlotte 2015, and god awful kamisama)
Anohana
To be honest a large amount of them are VNs so I would exclude them.

There are others but I cannot be bothered, I'm a key VN simp. Though their works are also getting too meh for my taste recently, kind of sad about that.
Heh, never met a dude who also watched Hitman Reborn. Good series, not ever really talked about

it's born amidst the naruto/bleach/one piece craze. it's shounen without the high concept of ninja genocide/soul societies/pirates. literally just hitmen. not that it isn't interesting, but you can see why it's not talked about often.

I know like 2 people who were so crazy for it back then. Personally, Hibari's design caught my eye back then, but I never got around to watching/reading it.

So you mean to say that it's easy?
Because I never went as far as impossibility.
Even when split into many, the tasks require immense dedication and effort.
Not to mention that without the ability and willingness to reflect on your past works, all of this is pointless, no matter how well you are able to explain it.

Your take is interesting, on the other hand.

Never said it was easy, only that I had found a route that seemed to work rather well for me. And I really don't think breaking down a large amorphous task into smaller and easily definable parts is all that novel of an idea, only the concept that author voice is something that has those smaller and definable parts.

If you don't want to take my advice, then by all means ignore me. From where I'm sitting though, you are sounding like someone who is looking for permission to fail. That's an even deeper problem than any issue you can ever throw at me.

If you want to become great at something, the #1 most important thing is never to give up. And, like anything else, that is a concept that has parts it can be broken down into as well. One key part of never giving up is denying yourself all forms of permission to fail, and view any issue you come across that is keeping you from improving as just another obstacle to conquer and overcome.

And, consider accepting the help of others who have been down the same path before you. They can make your path quicker and easier by offering you direction.

This may sound like the storyline of a shonen anime. That's because the Japanese are tapping into something very real when they make their shonen anime characters, hoping that these portrayals they put in their characters might inspire people. I will tell you now, in a shonen anime it is just part of the plot and the character that they never give up. In real life, when you discover a real issue that is offering you trouble, THAT is when you will discover just how hard it is to really apply those concepts in real life, and if you do manage to do it successfully then you discover exactly how right all those shonen anime really are about how life works.

This really is just how it is. If you don't have the stomach for it, then I guess this is as far as your path as a writer goes. Either become a stubborn anime protagonist and start obstinently refusing to bend to any issue that gets in your way, or become content with struggling in mediocrity.

This thread got so weeb-y and I feel ashamed for not being able to contribute since I haven't seen most of those series :blob_no:

Anyway, I answered this question in more detail on another thread, but in short I express myself through my writing because my home and school lives stopped being places where I felt I could safely do that. I was often thought of as annoying, told to shut up because I talked too much, or just ignored outright, so now I write because it allows me to say whatever I want without fear of those things. It's helped immensely with my confidence issues, but I still have a ways to go :blob_melt:

I initially "haha" reacted the first paragraph, but after reading the second, I want to give you a pat/hug whatever.

Hope I could help even more with those issues of yours and glad you found an outlet in writing.

shame, it got really good especially after the second main arc. The MC, Tsuna, became pretty badass. I mean he was still the average kind-hearted MC, but the boy had a lot of development and didn't back down from anything as long as he had Reborn telling him he could do it. The abilities they had were pretty cool too, wasn't your run of the mill magic or chakra type of thing.

Sadly Ben is right, it got overshadowed by much more popular anime and manga at the time.

Sure, i get it. Its just kinda a disappointment since it IS a good story. Basically has all the benefits of a shounen story without leaning TOO heavily into the tropes that make them annoying. Wasn't mainly about Nakama and shit. For example in one piece everyone's a friend first, only Zorro really feels like he takes his position as the first mate seriously. In Reborn, felt like all the characters were more aware of their roles as the MCs subordinates and i liked that. Had a nice balance overall, i'd say, not really anything to criticize.

For a long while I wondered what was it that made me want to write. I only figured it out today. I write because God gave me the ability to do so, and that by doing so I express his glory.
But that's just me. Why do you[whoever you are] write?
So I can communicate non-verbally in other words, to avoid most human interaction as much as possible.
