Why can't translators do their job. (false alarm this time)

Can the people who translate comics put their malicious agendas aside while translating comics? In Youjo Senki/Saga Of Tanya The Evil, chapter 80, we have a translator claiming that the NRA of the US gave Imperial Germany weapons and that they love killing their own citizens. A Japanese citizen who reincarnated at Imperial Germany during the world wars would not care about modern US politics at all. Regardless of whether you are left wing or right wing, someone else's comic should not be where you post your garbage.

Couldn't find the original Japanese line but the line is basically translated the same by the Vietnamese and Spanish translators.

Imagine thinking Youjo Senki wasn't political.

That doesn't mean much when sometimes people who can't understand Japanese will try to translate from other languages.

Imagine thinking Youjo Senki wasn't political.

Nobody made that claim; its just weird to see anti 2A propaganda on a chapter that has nothing to do with the sale of firearms. It's like they completely changed the subject for those two speech bubbles and then returned to the story. Nothing on the pages before or the pages after implied that she was going to say something completely irrelevant to the story and then return to the story as if it hadn't been said.


Jap readers, can you confirm if this is what the author intended. If he actually wrote it then I'll withdraw the complaint

When the manga discusses action or battle, it uses the actual characters, but when it discusses military strategy, it switches to animal caricatures. In this segment, they (the Germans) were talking about destroying supply depots, bridges, defensive structures, and railway guns before the enemy (the Russians) can reinforce them because the Russians had just declared war.

I at least, was able to type down the Japanese text. Then again Japanese is a contextual language, so translation is probably not accurate

I'm not a fan of translators fucking with stuff, Crunchyroll, yenpress, 4kids, you name it and they do it.

In this particular case, however, it's actually pretty much what is written there in Japanese, so uhhh, spot on work translators.

I was mad at the translator for what appeared to be a mistranslation. I don't care about the author's beliefs; I was just asking for translations to be accurate. What I complained about is valid since its happened before (miss kobayashi anime, My Life As Inukai-San’s Dog anime, etc.)

"Improving" translations by implanting ones personal point of view is a pretty shitty practice. I hate it even more than most people since I'm a translator myself. It's like doodling over the Mona Lisa and expecting people to praise you for it... There's translation and localization, and then there's fanfiction...

This trend is sadly seen everywhere in our current entertainment industry. Movies, books, (video)games...

It's a good translation though and it sounds quite consistent with MC personality.
