Ya'll like this style? I know it looks bad but I kinda like it?

Her name's 'Lurking Lily' on a story I'm working on

NEW Artstyle

Here's one of my old style creations for reference: (She's also a part of the story I'm making, her name's 'New Year, New Me')

I liked the new one because of her cheery smile.

Sorry GB Sukuna (old one).

OLD Artstyle

The new one looked like SCP-096, and its face similarly to James Lee (Animation) face being photoshopped.

Overall, the new style looked like a horror book cover. While the old looked like your run in the mill of most English Comic or Manwha. I'm just saying in my own perspective (I'm no professional of arts or any of sorts).

I agree! Though, the old style monster I believe is a lot more complex. I could definitely make a more creepier version of her as her entire concept is a reverse Saturn eating his Son painting where she gives birth to children by eating four separate people and regurgitating them and moulding them back together. Hence why she has four mouths, one for each person.

Meanwhile, Lurker Lily's just a child of the old monster. I need to make the mother more terrifying or at least more dreadful than Lurker.
new style. that shit is horrifying in a good way

I really appreciate it! I kind of realized that the monsters I was making didn't feel uncanny or horrifying enough so I wanted to go all in on human body horror.

I see what you mean! The old style is definitely a lot cleaner which feels alright to me, but I kind of preferred the new style's 'muddiness' because of my love for horror monsters. I might consider transitioning to new style simply because of vibes, but I see how the old style can appeal to people! I just wanted to see people's opinions on the two artstyles.

Personally, I like the old style better. Right now, however, it lacks detail.

Basically this is a question of how realistic you want your art to be. The first image is textured, which potentially makes it much more realistic and sort of visceral. The second is not textured at all, which makes it look smoother, less realistic, but also more stylized. Neither is strictly better, but I far prefer stylized drawings because they can convey a lot of emotion and supernatural elements that are very difficult to capture realistically.
