Do dropped works count?
Yeahhhhhh, if you read a majority of time after the initial crash out about something. Yeah!!!
it's when you like a work but a single thing makes you hate it. Like it could be, maybe your personal taste or preference. Suppose you liked a story, you have read hundreds of chapter then the MC starts showing starts changing into a good character (Suppose you read a villain lead one), you are heavily intrested in the story.

Maybe because of the lore, world building anything, maybe side characters. And that character change bs is making your blood boil. At that point maybe just maybe you will still continue the work just for the world building or lore. Thats hate reading...

The most infamous example I could think of is... JJK. People were hate reading that shit after Gojo died.
Reading and hating it?
That's a new one. Teach me, Sensei!
1. Azarinth Healer. Towards chapter 200, I didn't know why I even ever started and cut it. The most upsetting where the characters. Especially bad was that one "betrayal by her friend that happened for no actual reason. Yet, a total trainwreck is the MC. The MC is a genocidal maniac. Culling whole ecosystems without care, so hard that it begs the question of how this solely predatory world even sustains itself, if levels are solely gained by killing. She makes decision purely by gut feeling, and somehow they always turn out to be the best. She's weirdly attached to people being violent to her, while abusing those around her who are weaker. The weirdest, she started out as a nurse in training, and at some point, she originally states that she hates helping people, because it's annoying.

I guess the mc is masochistic hypocrite..ಠ_ಠ

Unless stuff read for classes counts (then #1 hate read EVER was "Portrait of the Lady" by Henry James), the only one was the first Thomas Covenant series - read the second first and did not understand what a total POS Covenant was until the final battle in the first series. Barely made it through because I'd liked the second so much but... ick. Just ick.

You know I was very surprised to see that this thread, had no one say anything about netory stories. In the past I'd heard readers say they really don't like when they read a story and the main character's girls get taken by some other douche. This kind of story bothers people a lot. (Although its not the same if its only a short intro scene of the main character's girl dumping him right before he gets Isekai'd, but I think that's only an exception because they don't spend any time on the girl being the betrayer.)

People usually don't like tragedy endings (some call these F--k you endings).

To be honest I think even with stories I really liked if it included something I hated, I'd drop it after awhile even if I try to keep reading for a few chapters.

I'm not a personal fan or harems or stories where the MC's female companion is simply just there for the sake of sex appeal or sexual fantasy. I typically avoid reading those tagged as such, but occasionally I read one that didn't get tagged as such. Then I get surprised halfway through the story. Even if I pushed myself for a few more chapters I usually just drop it, unfortunately. I can persevere for a short while but I can't make it to the end most of the time.
