I haven't yet, I just look for titles that stand out, and read the summary. After that, then I'll look at the tags and maybe add it to my list or maybe not. Then never have the time to read more than a chapter or two so it is all moot anyway (at least so far)
And i was the same before.
Until i read some good ones. (EN or CN)
Now my favorites are chinese fanfics compared to legit CN novels.
Also more wholesome. compared to cultivation/xianxia/wuxia/urban.
ps : Its greener in the other side => That also means the industry is surcharged + people tired. That means bigger untapped potential in fantasy (compared to xianxia CNs) but also bc fantasy is fundamentally slightly better than xianxia. And anyone smart enough to understand this fundamental underlying logic = good brain => likely good author => likely good fantasy chinese novel/or/fanfic.
+ fanfic means, very likely, that the author love its work/theme
+ if it survive longer in the high competitive chinese writing industry = quality
+ trxs.cc has now a rating system, that is very helpful (bc like us, in the west, also began to have good tastes. Their comments is identical to ours) Also trxs.cc only accept series with lot of chaps.
But yeah. I kinda understand the "dislike/hate" for it. As i'm an ex-disliker.
There are still a BIG number of bad ones.
(or marvel/DC ones, which is a big NONO for me, and lot of others i bet)
Here is a SH fanfic of ultra high quality to support my point :
Is it not enough being reborn in the Nasuverse? Is it not enough being a servant? I can deal with all this, but why do I have to be Aqua?! She shouldn't even be from this verse so why?!?! Mc won't be as stupid as Aqua just in case. There...

A big favorite of mine :
BL, Fanfic, LitRPG, Smut. Was also considering filtering out Isekai and Mecha, but left it for now.
While I haven't read anything in the main site outside of the SHHS one (which is ironic since that's technically a fanfic hehe), I always check new releases at least once a day for anything that might pique my interest. Thus, the filters.

Until I read one of Robert E. Howard's old boxing stories, I avoided sports stories like the plague and still am unlikely to read them. I am also unlikely to read "smut" (despite loving Tom Lehrer's old song about it, a march for his cause ... Smut) - but I reserve the option to read anything if something about it catches my eye, regardless of tags.
