Basically, I want to know whether you think Pirate's or Ninja's are better as both a historical job and as a fantasy job. Video is to help with the decision making.

Also, if Naruto was genderbent then it would technically be a magical girl show.

Think about their private lives. Pirates dont have one. They are always drunk thieves who live in a cramped, stinky sausage fest of a boat. When the ninja's work is done and he takes off his mask, he retires to his penthouse suite and drinks champaigne with his beautiful harem.

Pirates had a really shitty life unless they're freebooty-ing in which case it was just an on-field government job. Fantasy pirates depend on the "sea" they hunt. Normal ones? Boring. Sand or even better sky ones? Cool, I loved Skied of Arcadia.

Ninjas are just secret agents in fetishwear, tho. The costumes just aren't that practical in most cases unless there's a crafting focus in the narrative.

I'd take ninjas over pirates due to job stability and work security but the costumes need an overhaul.

On one hand pirates stink, have bad teeth and have to eat pickled cabbage and lemons to survive.
On the other hand they aren't weebs like ninjas, so that instantly makes them a clearly better choice.

Let’s go with Ninja-Pirates.

The best job I could think on the top of my head would be some type of ‘guild receptionist’ type thing. No dangers(relatively) and decent pay(probably).

Historically, ninjas were just spies. The CIA would be the modern-day equivalent of the ninja. For pirates, they were just sailors who resorted to banditry. They did not have a good life at all.

As such, the correct answer is Vikings. Historical Vikings have all the glorious points of pirates with almost none of the bad sides... from the lifestyle sense anyway. The morality sense was still just as bad.

I got nothing to say for or against Ninja other than the fact that a Ninja-Pirate is just the obvious method a Ninja would use to take down a pirate ship. I mean... err... sorry. Did I say take down? I meant take over. Ninjas are master spies and assassins. So, going out dressed as a pirate and assassinating the captain, taking over the ship, and manipulating the crew into attacking the enemies of the Ninja's lord is exactly what they would do.

So, either way, pirates loose.

Ninjas are better than pirates though One Piece is better than Naruto and the first Pirates of the Caribbean is great, so pirate fiction is better the ninjas' fiction. When ninjas and pirates show up in fiction isn't strictly about them; ninjas are still better.

Historically, shinobi were mostly spies and worked in intelligence and counter intelligence. And that was it. There were clans that trained in complicated ninjutsu, but the purpose of shinobi was to blend in, find the information, possibly leave misleading information in places, then blend in again. Nearly all of what we think of as a ninja is fiction and romanticism. Although many of the fantastical elements of ninja can be traced to Kōga Ninpōchō, It is worth noting that fantastical ninja stories have been around for hundreds of years, such as with Katakiuchi Kidan Jiraiya Monogatari.

The problem with pirates is they are often lumped in with privateers. Pirates are simply criminals that worked as a group and had a boat. Privateers were granted amnesty for raiding ships under the pretense of doing it for a country against another country. Both types and themes are melded and explored in what most consider the Father Of Pirate Fiction, Captain Blood by Raphael Sabatini.

Man everyone really shitting on pirates?

Let's see would I rather get a fixed salary working for a captain my crew and I elected on a charter we all signed an agreed upon, that we can disband at any time and be done with said lifestyle after a good plunder with the only real threat besides disease to me is the royal navy or other pirates OR work as a glorified mailman against a tyrannical shogun because I am impoverished rice farmer that isn't trying to starve.

If I get caught I am dead or tortured than killed, I more likely than not have to go purely off of instinct and experience, a one on one is a death sentence, and I'll probably be sent on missions by myself or one other person instead of having an entire crew at my back.

Gee I wonder which one is better.
