In my case, I won't be able to publish a new chapter this weekend due to family events.

I'm not sure if I post that news on my SH profile, on the forums profile, or as an announcement on the latest chapter. Any suggestions as to where posting that update would be best for the readers?

I usually do latest chapter + SH profile. Most readers don't really go to forum, so it's easier to reach them on SH.

I'd put it on messages. If anyone wonders why, they should check the profile

As someone who mostly on updates on their SH profile, yeah, that's not enough :sweating_profusely: .

If it's just a unable to upload for next week or two, then the best would be an announcement/author's note on the latest chapter. If it's a more major emergency update, then upload a temporary chapter for it until the situation is resolved.

Make a short chapter on it. So that even if much later on when someone who was saving up to binge sees the shortage of chapters they'd know the reason why.

This is the best for 99% of the readers, everyone has to check the chapters and inevitably find it.

I would do it everywhere so people can see it. Even make a temporary chapter to say that you will be missing a day.
Plus, you'll get some additional traffic, garnering more readers.

I don't know if it sounds quite 'clout-chasey' tho, but only if your work is not famous enough.
