I have a habit of addressing the characters when I leave comments at the end of chapters. But I've started to notice that isn't very common. What kinds of comments do you leave on chapters you read?

Most of my comments are spam. Also, while you are here, you should check out my story! Everyone who has read it has been cured from baldness!!
got a link? Also might help to add it to your signature. you can use hyperlinks. You'll see authors on here usually have their stories linked, so even unrelated comments in the forums can get attention. case in point, mine down there VV

I rarely comment, but when I do, it's usually to the author, though occasionally I may address someone else. I've noticed most seem to comment to the author, and if they refer to someone else, they tend to denote it.

I usually do the first two, however sometimes my comments are to myself.

I've made general statements in the comments, not really directed at anyone in particular. I've made replies to what others have said as well, so it could be more than just a note/message to/for the author. A lot of it depends on your purpose in commenting really.

I tend to see the comments section as a way for everyone to interact with each other. Readers are able to share their ideas on where the plot is going next or remind each other of things that have happened to whoever in a previous chapter or to help speculate the answer to certain dilemas found in the chapter/novel. The author(s), or the ones I read at least, enjoy the commentary provided and have occasionally taken those comments between readers and added them into the novel itself (for example, one novel had a character that had gotten a ridiculous nickname from another character and the comments section just blew up with a ton of other cringey/silly nicknames of which some were added in the very next chapter. It was just readers messing around, but the author enjoyed it as well).

Ok, thank you now i see it; along with how narrow-minded my statement was :sweating_profusely:

I depends. I'll usually be addressing the author in some way based on how I feel about the chapter. That said, I will sometimes say things to other readers to hear their thoughts on something I read that the author shouldn't have to answer because of spoilers.
