What's your ultimate 'dream' for your story?

To be honest, the original goal for my story was something along the lines of getting it adapted, didn't really care what, but after writing about a third of it? I just want to convey the message behind the story clearly. I feel like a lot of what's popular these days forgot that your writing can carry a meaning beyond just entertainment. There was a story that really helped me improve as a person when I was younger, and if my story could have even a small impact on someone in a positive way, that's more than enough for me.

I've browsed a lot of other-site forums and have asked similar questions, I've seen wide ranges of answers. Some people say they write purely for the love of the game and don't want a penny for their writing. I've also seen others say their dream is to get it adapted to a high-budget movie or even anime. What do you all want for your story, or have you not thought that far ahead?

Well. I only have two real 'dreams' for my work.
1) To finish writing it (and maybe self-publish on Amazon once I have for physical copies).
2) For people to enjoy reading it.

Anything more would be great, sure, but I'm a realist, and prefer to keep my expectations within the realm of the 'achievable' for an independent, indie author.
Whatever comes of it will come of it.

For The Blue Lotus, It has always been the same dream. See an anime adaptation of it. That's why the book is structured as such and overall it's a very visual novel. It's not too long but at the same length as Hellsing Ultimate or Deathnote. Just one bomb of story that becomes a must watch in the future. Yeah, so as a novel the story does not hit as hard as it will as an adaptation.
The next book that I will be writing is completely different and might be even shorter than TBL. It will be a prologue book in the same universe (modern future world) for the third book that I'll be writing (which will be extremely long). That's where the world building happens.

My biggest dream would be for my story to become either a manga, anime, or video game (going to be learning RPG maker to try and make that last one a reality!). I don't care about money, though I just want many people to enjoy my story. :)

I write purely for passion, because I have loved books since I was a kid. My dream is that my book can resonate with people and bring them on a visceral journey.

I'm not sure if I'm being delusional, but since we are talking about dreams, no matter how pretentious they may seems.

1- finish my stories. No matter how much readers I can have, I should at least finish them for myself. I erased many of them after encountering writer blocks, now they are still there trapped in my mind.

2- Writing something that people will like. If they like my story, it's means that they like me, a little, right?

3- monetisation. I don't need much, just enough to stop stealing and racketing, not necessarily for good, just the time to figure something out.
4- adaptation, in order of priority it come fourth. I hope I could adapt my story into a game, even if it is by myself.

5th but strangely it should have come first, I feel that writing is sometime a therapy, just as sharing what you write is. I hope that things come around, so that I can have my priorities fixed

Definitely dreaming for the Manga and Anime adaptation. I explicitly aim for the Light Novel feel and try to bring something familiar yet refreshing, so we'll see!

Honestly I don't care. I just want people to enjoy what I write. I mean sure getting a Manga or an anime made of it would be amazing but that's not exactly realistic. I also wish to be more transparent with my readers.

Well, everyone can dream. Dreams are free. However, I choose to dream more realistically.

I don't have high expectations; I just want to finish my fiction according to my artistic vision, make it readable, and maybe get some readers willing to review and discuss it.

Of course, I might even publish my fiction as a paperback book, but that's more of a final hope after I finish this personal project.

Now, I just want to finish my fiction as best as I can while my creativity dwindles.

sounds familiar to me. Step one, I get a reader or three. Step two? Maybe they like it. Anything else comes after that gets rolling if ever. SInce I have no readers, I obviously still need to get better and dreams are useless to that end. That's the immediate task at hand, and I'm task oriented.

Well the story I'm running here is actually a bit of a side project. But my ultimate dream for any of my work would be to have a manga/graphic novel/anime adaptation made.
