Is that the case? I could have sworn authors shoving exposition up their readers' asses was popular and well received.
Popular among writers, not readers, who find it all a pain in the arse...

As readeer I personally can’t stand worldbuilding info dumps, so when I write, I avoid them unless it’s absolutely necessary for the plot to move forward.
Instead, I try to build the world gradually, through jokes, character conversations, and their actions. Just one piece of worldbuilding at a time.

For example, if I want to show that my MC has 10-meter sight powers, I won’t say it outright.
I’ll just show him casually peeking at someone taking a bath from far away. :blob_highfive: :blobtaco:

How much people on here enjoy reading expositions relating to worldbuilding? Are they the minority or majority here?
I hate in random conversations or action scenes. But I really like it when the author dumps large blocks on exposition in crafting, planning, or resting scenes. Of course, you have to make me care first. But if you MC is likeable, and after some plot stuff, you have em all rest and you tell me about the origin and uses of your dinosaur monster whatever, I will listen intently. Especially if it actually makes sense considering real life biology.

Oh. I hate exposition about relationships or families or stuff, though. I can see that Lucinda hates David without you telling me, and I do not want to learn of the web that is David's family cuz it will make my head hurt. Instead gimme a chapter on how your magic explosion thingy works. Might just be me.
