If I'm being honest, I like reading what I write, but the truth is, I put my thoughts on paper because otherwise they won't let me sleep.
Guess I'm just hunted.

I guess none? I only write for some kind of hobby so I guess I could drop it any time anywhere. The only thing that is stopping me from doing that is my motto.

I guess none as well for me. I just write whenever I feel like it. I'm still not down on the first chapter of my story and it's been about a week.

Sometimes I just force myself to sit down and write. It doesn't always work, but when you can get yourself focused on writing for about an hour or more, your mind goes into a state of flow, and your creative ability improves.

Other times it's just when an idea strikes. Mostly this only prompts me to fill up more of my copious notes, but sometimes it encourages me to sit down and write a chapter.

At this point in my life I only write so that I can see the little notification bell with a red icon and chat with the only other human being who took a second of his time to talk to me that week.

I'm serious, lately I've been quite lonely in my life. So to see that at least someone is taking me into account for something makes me a little happy.

I write to change the world, but writing because I couldn't sleep was also a thing before I had a baby.

Same as you. I just put my thought on my notepad and if its the same as my plan on my novel then I put on it as a chapter.

Someone needs to write the great Epics future generations shall enjoy for years to come, and that duty falls to me.

Spite and impatience
Like bitches seriously make some fuckin masterpiece and have the gall to end it and not make any more? Nah bro you can’t just cut off my supply of good shit like that-
That’s what gets me going at first and serves as one of the core reasons. After that there’s also just way too much to sift through to find the beautiful shit that really hits so fine I gotta do it myself.

For me it feels like I have an obligation to tell the tale, for both my readers, myself, and the characters in my story.

It may be different since this isn't a paywalled site, but on somewhere such as WebNovel, if you're writing in a niche genre a lot of people expect work on a scheduled basis, and if you don't post they fear for the worst such as you getting ill or deciding to drop the book. ?

I'd recommend writing in a notes app or something. There are many alternatives where you can write online. I wouldn't however recommend writing longhand, as some swear by. Writing longhand for me personally is painful and also opens up the possibility for IRL people to discover the weird stuff you're writing ?
