For me, I like those villainous mc who have braincells. Yeah, they are evil as fu*k but I do like them. And it's a cheery on top if they have flaws, like anger issue, emotional distress, psychological trauma or just being a dumbass with no common sense.

It just makes them more relatable, even if they are evil. Similar qualities also enhance the 'good' MCs for me too.

But I genuinely hate those super righteous MCs that can't for the love of god do a wrong thing, even if their entire seven generation is slaughtered. And especially those mister perfects, these mfs can do anything... I mean ANYTHING. Someone created an alien language... BOOM! They knew that since birth LIKE WTF!!! (Of course, I'm being dramatic but you get it.... Right?)

A real normal person. Yeah, that sounds generic and like it could be applied to most MCs, but actually, I barely ever see it done well, and then it's often a huge dislike for me if it suddenly turns away from this.
For example, if they are isekaid, they should rightfully freak out. They shouldn't perfectly know how to survive in the wilderness. They shouldn't be fine with killing whatever they encounter. And they certainly shouldn't just fly along with it. Too many don't ever seem like they actually led a life in a normal world.
This also applies to denizens of a fantasy world. Villagers and citizens aren't killers. Just because you got some power, you don't suddenly ignore the ingrained societal norms.

Character development usually happens far too quickly. They have one experience and suddenly take it so hard to heart that it completely overwrites who they were.
They survived the first day of the apocalypse? Good. Now they can kill without remorse and are master tacticians. Or whatever scenario is given.
They trained for a day? Cool. Now they can apply everything they learned in real-life situations.

I like cool scenarios, but I actually like to see the character being more than just a victim of their circumstances. I want their personality to matter, beyond whatever crazy thing happened to them.

In addition, they should actually start out as normal. I absolutely can't have it if it's later on revealed that they were the child of some deity all along, so their path to grandness was destiny. So many "twists" made them suddenly some more-than-mere-mortals entity.
Chosen One plots are boring.

I want an MC who suffers. I want an MC like Natsuki Subaru from Re:Zero, Sensei from Blue Archive. Nothing beats the feeling of overcoming weakness and adversity, especially when it seems impossible due to powerlessness and weakness. I want an MC who is empathetic, kind, multi-faceted, yeah those kinds of things.

I think you're slightly masochist or sadistic to be fair... Nothing bad with that. I for sure love 'bad' endings.
Intelligent MCs who thinks before acting, or dumbasses just trying to survive
I like the dumbasses, I think they are goofy and cute. ?

Competent, classy, and chaotic. And I don't mean chaotic good/evil, more like they are predictably unpredictable, the kind of character where it's in-character for them to do something unexpected, like sparing an enemy because they like punching them down, even though it's a hassle.

If I like them, I like them. I don't think there is really a type of MC I like, it just depends on the story and how they act and go through the work. I like Subaru from Re Zero, but I also like Goku from Dragon Ball or Percy Jackson from the PJ series. I even liked Sunny from Shadow Slave, even if I think SS isn't that good of a series. I like characters who suffer, edgy boys and girls, idiots, smart ones, strong ones, weak ones, evil ones, good ones, average ones, and more.

I guess I like most MCs.

I like main characters with big, dynamic, personalities. Even if they aren't self-aware, they should be unafraid to act in ways that would only be proper in a fictional setting. They should also be able to express a full range of emotions and react to situations in a believable fashion.

The most important trait I look for is that the MC is social, charming, and comfortable with who they are. They should own their flaws instead of rejecting them and enjoy being the life of the party. Even though these are sort of Mary Sue-type traits, I enjoy a classic hero/heroine.

I want an intelligent mc that is done right, not some genius that somehow figures everything out from some very obscure evidence that don't even make it possible to know the truth or people that know the future and try to act upon it and somehow do it all perfectly.

I want an intelligent mc that doesn't feel like the intelligence is just a tag to make it possible for the author to make the mc figure everything out, an mc that learns in the best way possible form an error but even then similar errors occur, the learning isn't instantaneous, it is gradual and gruelling.

Or an mc that just thinks fundamentally different, which doesn't mean only an mc that likes casual genocide, mcs that conceptualize thing differently.

Mhh I like MCs to be fairly normal people but maybe a bit unhinged.

Not in the sense of Unhinged I can murder anyone, I am the master of evil kind, but with a kind of unhingedness that comes as a flaw or peculiarity with a maybe otherwise fairly normal person that is not immediately noticed.

Like Zig in the witch and the mercenary.

Like when he is talking to a professional killer, and genuine sociopath saying that he respects and finds him admirable because he channels his urge to murder in a way that is socially acceptable, by killing criminals for the guild and state as a headhunter instead of going rouge and just go about killing whomever.

I’m into protagonists who are totally fired up about something. Like, they’ll do whatever it takes to reach their goal. And I also dig those moody, melancholic types where you’re kinda left guessing what’s going on in their heads. :D

Those cautious yet not so smart ones that needs to improvise because almost everytime there calculation in a fight is wrong, ending up with their ugly victory.
