DAmn its nostalgic remembering it.. i remember I had a htc phone a crappy one which had like 2.2 android at that time. used daily motion. Some random absolute giga Chad uploaded a series called sakurasou pet no Kanojo..(the pet girl of Sakurasou).. Imo its still one of the best series I've seen discussing life lessons and their struggles.. then on his channel there was a series called more was zombie desu(later I found out it translated to is this a zombie).. Such found memories tbh.. this was the gateway for me to watching anime back in the middle school

Okay, this question came to mind when I mas having a nostalgia trip of the animes I watch in my early teens. I did watch a lot from lots of different genres, but the one I watched first was Akame Ga Kill, to this day, still one of my favorites.

Now it's your turn? What's the first anime y'all guys watched?
Beyblade or Pokémon, but if you don’t count that probably Mushishi or Gintama, but that was because my aunt was watching that. The first ones I actively payed attention to were Ghost Stories and Hikaru no Go. The first anime I chose to watch was Mirai Nikki, because my brother recommended it. After that I fell down the anime pipeline for ~2-3 years before I grew bored and started to read manga, which I grew bored of and started reading light novels, then Korean web novels, then Chinese ones, and then here.

If we count Macek-red (heavily edited stuff for US audiences), Star Blazers probably although it may have been Battle of the Planets.

If we count original stuff, we had a Japanese animation club (no, we didn't know in 1988 to call it "anime") at my junior high school, and the first thing I remember seeing there was the Macross movie (Do You Remember Love.) I'd already seen the US version of Robotech. I also saw Akira and Overfiend when I was in high school, and I saw the first Ghost in the Shell movie in the first US run at a showing at my college.

I didn't watch much anime until I started a job in 2006 with a lot of coworkers who were big anime fans (I went to see Girl Who Leapt Through Time on its early US run), and even there it took me more than a few years to really start catching up. AOT Season 1 was probably the first "big" series I saw as it aired vs. catching up after the fact.

Discounting the ones before I knew anime was a thing, the first was either Attack on Titan or one of my favorites, Erased

As a kid, hmm, I think it was Digimon. Pokémon was also pretty early on, Card Captor was a little later. After that, I guess just a flood of everything.

Technically probably Kimba The White Lion the 1993 movie. Though I wouldn't really count that as any introduction to anime.

As for more standard introductions growing up they had a bunch of anime for kids on tv:
Shin-Chan
Pokemon(Most likely)
Digimon
Flint The Time Detective
Medabots
Dragon Ball Z
Hamtaro

No clue which was actually first amongst all of those though.
