What's Happiness for an author?

Another thing that gives me happiness is my readers loving the characters I made.

I have had comments praising the girls I wrote, to the point of begging them to be in the MC's harem. Even the MC's sister is included.

I'm happy to know that since that means my philosophy of making every harem candidate be a decently developed character works.

Ugh, there are so many things!

#1 Is seeing people read the story when you post a new chapter, it still amazes me, looking at the stats and seeing all those people catching up to the newest chapter. I hope they enjoy it.
#2 Is getting any kind of comments. So far I've been trying to respond and like every comment because it makes me so happy!

Some others are;
When you feel like you wrote something that turned out better than you expected.
When someone favorites a chapter
When people vote in your polls
When you feel like you have ideas that are coming together
That giddy feeling of anticipation for when you get to some payoff, I'm so looking forward to people's reactions at some of the things I have planned!
Not taking it so seriously, it seems the more serious I take it the worse I feel. That doesn't mean I don't edit and care about presentability, more just, typing and letting my characters go where they want, it's like I'm discovering the story too!

I'm only like... 11 chapters in my first time so I might feel different later, who knows?

Just got a comment of someone tearing up when reading my story.

That's a happiness for an author, right there. :s_smile:
I was on the other end of that.. damned 7th Demon Lord made me cry. Props to any author who can tug on my emotions so much, I hate it but yet love it it's so weird. I see you wrote "Reincarnation of a Worthless Man" I actually started reading that last night. Now I'm scared. I have yet to finish Violet Evergarden for the same reason, too much feels it's so good but I gotta be ready to cry damnit.

Oh, I remember reading that novel. Didn't read much of it but I can tell it was written very competently. Might even be better than my own story honestly. :s_tongue:

My story isn't that sad honestly. It's just little spots here and there that's sad.

A comment after I get through a grueling section of writing. That's all.

Goomji or whatever are fine but I am truly happy if someone responded to the fiction with words, especially if it is a part where I can make adjustments. Thanks are always appreciated but a thoughtful dialogue is best.
