But that’s still the exact opposite of what this thread is about. Though now I must consider reincarnating @TheEldritchGod as a human, who is then eaten by itself in an infinite loop. Would make a good mind-screwing story.

Oh, I was saying pick it up FROM when its master dies and I'm about to devour it, causing the monster to jump into a NEW monster body. Everyone has suggested many monsters for it to turn INTO, I'm suggesting what monster it STARTS AS.
