Every once in a while a human gets reincarnated into a small part of me. Usually they only get one eye and they start talking going, "Oh God! What's happening? Why am I part of this giant sheet of undulating flesh and eyes?" You know, annoying stuff like that. Now, normally I shut that shit down right away and devour them, but this one time, that part of me peeled away and flew into one of those glowing shepherd's crooks that appears whenever a human wants to summon part of me as a familiar. The transmigrator immediately got dragged off to some planet with wizards or something, I assume.

I'm not worried about it. Some day the human who summoned him with die and then the reincarnated soul will return to me and I will get to feast upon all his life experiences. Still, I sometimes wonder what he is up to.

Write a story about that.
But that’s still the exact opposite of what this thread is about. Though now I must consider reincarnating @TheEldritchGod as a human, who is then eaten by itself in an infinite loop. Would make a good mind-screwing story.

And no, goblin isn’t in the poll because I already did that. To clarify: This is a monster reincarnating into something else. Not a human reincarnating into a monster. As in they are not bound by human morals or their problems.

Thought I might as well make a poll for fun.

Do a wyvern.

Why can't a human be a monster? In my 18+(a few trillions of seconds) years of life humans have very much shown a lot of potential for the role.

Do a mischievous pixie with an incredibly foul mouth. It has a grudge with gnomes and will destroy any gardem gnome decorations it sees.

I'm a sucker for love.

Like a monster reincarnating into a humanoid, or a monster reincarnating into another monster, like a slime into a kobald.

Bet this lil guy has plenty to say
dead dove enjoyer. — Morrowind: Oblivion: Skyrim: Which mudcrab variant...

I would Reincarnate into a xenomorph:3 one that could get a half human half xenomorph and could be friendly to whoever it wanted to and still have its evolutionary traits if it continued to eat genes to continue its evolution.

Isn’t that usually a lesser dragon? Got that want for true dragon hood via reincarnation?
No, I mean a dragon that has wings as frontal appendages, NOT another normal dragon, there aare many dragon reincarnations but I never seen a wyvern reincarnation, not that much would change from my expirence of that genre because most people write boring dragon, I would fucking kill for a Valstrax like reincarnation. Yes most write wyvern as boring I blame D&D for all these awful dragons, sorry for the tangent.

Reincarnating into a mantis shrimp would be sick as hell, I'll get buffs when in ocean, can instantly kill an enemy in water, hell like I can even be a overpowered boxer on land... Oh wait, I meant the irregular ones like mutated mantis shrimp, not normal mantis shrimp.

How would s/he even think? I’m curious on what such a creature must be doing in their free time.
I was going to suggest "Some bizarre Lovecraftian thing" - like a Shoggoth or member of the Great Race of Yith or something.

Cthulhu is the High Priest of the Outer Gods, an alien being who ... well, does not think like us. Dreams to Cthulhu (and his ilk) are kind of like cobblestones for them to walk on, and pathetic creatures like humans, when not providing those stones, are the ants they inadvertently step on while doing other stuff.

Undead. Easy choice. Vampire of course, so I would repeat my current existence in another world.

Vampires are not always undead though - not only do you have weird aberrations like Dr. Michael Morbius (Marvel Comics and a forgettable movie), but some "species" of fictional or mythological vampires are living creatures (for example, the Great Vampires from "Doctor Who: State of Decay" CREATE undead minions but are themselves massive living creatures; for that matter, Doctor Who also had Haemovores (10th Doctor, Smith and Jones), an alien race with a lot of vampire traits, and an infectious creature with vampiric traits who invaded Venice (11th Doctor, Vampires of Venice)) - so should have a separate entry other than just "Undead."

I’m kinda being reminded that fantasy sometimes have ‘alive undead’, which are powered by Life Energy rather than the more mysterious Death Energy. Skeletons being more insect-like beings rather than possessed corpses.

Kinda like creating new existences rather than being haunted by those who have fallen.

Listen.
There are people today who walk amongst you humans who embody this scenario. And we are not doing well.
The coffee and almond poppyseed muffins are wonderful, but the need to fly never goes away, and there is a constant sad agony over not being able to rend intruders into small bite sized pieces with your claws.

And that causes them to invent flying machines (planes) in the fantasy world, as well as flamethrowers (so they can flame breath)
