Kitty finds this offensive! Cats should rule over all!!!!! :blobspearpeek:
If that's the case, then rename the shop as Cat Shop / Cat Store, not a business as pet shop. Pet shop always have diversity. If a businessman can't deal with diversity and act with double standards for certain species, then this can come off as speciesism or racism. If you compare the treatments of animals to treatment of people in terms of races, genders, etc.

What if a dog is actually a cat in disguise? What if that low-key casual wear customer is your Boss in disguise? Think about it!

For me, the story doesn't need to be perfect, but it needs to be good for the most part of it and have some really awesome moments. If there are parts that I really really liked, and I could enjoy most of the story without a problem, it deserves a 5 starts in my opnion

Enjoyment. If I liked it and there were no long stretches of annoyance.

I've never given a 5 star on SH, and only twice on RR and one of those stories hasn't even been updated in 3 years. At most, I give 4 stars but my most common is 3's and 2's. 1's from me are about as rare as 5's.

Most often of all though is that I don't give any ratings since the rating system is for the most part dead. Everyone is gung-ho to drop a 5 if they liked it for any reason at all and a 1 for even the most trivial of complaints. I can say RR is a fairly large offender in this though SH isn't far behind. Or just simply because they dislike the author for whatever reason not directly related to the story itself. SH is the biggest offender of this particular thing in my experiences and others I know.

Still, the two stories I gave a 5. I can't accurately put into words what it was that grabbed me. It wasn't grammar since my favorite online author is Misty South, chinese guy. It's painfully obvious that English isn't his first language and yet he's just so much better than any other CN author I've ever come across. It wasn't action or being fast-paced since I tend to enjoy slow-burns more often because constant fast paced action gets repetitive and in the long run, loses its impact and because I just happen to have a decent attention span. Something that is very rare in online readers/authors. All I can say is those 2 stories had me up at 6:30 AM still reading despite the fact I had to start getting ready for work at 9:00 A.M. and I moaned and groaned even as I came to that realization...and kept reading anyway.

I am pretty lax with my ratings. I would say I usually only give up to a 4.5 usually but I just round it to a 5. LOTM is 4.7 in my books. I generally only rate 3 and above and 3 is for effort. Anything below 3 to me is trash. I only believe that like one sentence or words with 0 effort are deserving of a 1. 2 is for people with lacking effort but it is still there somewhere. My gulf between 3.0 to 3.9 is very big. 4.0 to 4.9 is even bigger. Still, I do sympathy 5s once in a while if I have idiots rating 1 for no reason to a work that does not deserve it when it is starting out. Otherwise, I usually just give my own rating+round up. Probably most SH works would get a 3-4 in my book.

If I like a story enough to read it to the end, I'll probably rate it 5 stars. If the story does something really dumb, I'll rate it probably about 1 star. If I stop reading because I lost interest, I won't bother rating it.
