Or can it be fun in a story that makes people cringe with regret for reading it?

I started putting incest in fan fiction for the shock reaction then it just became an element I feel makes smut writing complete.

Either way @SailusGebel told me to make this topic for discussion to those of us who are authors.

would you ever put incest in your story? Perhaps a future story? Why or why not?

You know what? In the Bible Adam and Eve were the first humans, they had named sons and unnamed daughters.

therefore if you want to use biblical context, incest would have happened in that sinless world.
As I didn't read the bible, this always bothered me. How the hell did they procreate further without incest?

Fictional incest is enjoyable for me to read since I find the taboo of many socially unacceptable things, to be hot for myself. I am a pervert if you haven't noticed.

Obviously they had no problem with brother/sister incest at the time. But if you follow Bible canon, the genetics were stronger and defects weren’t a problem like they are today.

the theory is that rather than evolution, we are experiencing de-evolution with genetics getting weaker every generation. Thus incest provides the higher chance for genetic defects today.

Wasn’t until Moses that the Bible mentions not procreating with siblings, but not pro-creating with parents was seen as bad during Lot’s sleeping with his daughters and God telling the Israelites not to mix with the moabites (children of the incest between lot and his daughters).

Well, there's also the passage in the bible that says the sons of god went down from heaven and made children with daughters of men.

That passage is interpreted too many ways. Some people call them angels, but I believe they’re the children of Seth going for the sexy girls who are sinful.

can’t really debate it without proper knowledge and context though.

@SailusGebel it's the passage used by Christians to escape the 'incest' tag on the descendants of Adam and Eve.

As for me (a Christian), I don't care much. All I can say is that incest ain't cool and fun; experienced working with students who are victims of it.

True. Others say they are angels.

Well, there's also that point that Abram married his cousin, Sara. So...

Eeeeeeeh.

Certain social setups can and do invoke a certain something in many people. Hell, the words naughty, bad, and dirty are charged under the right contexts, and incest is considered to be all three. It's also a common enough fetish to be one of the most popular PornHub queries. No one should be surprised that it's a thing.

People that have a close relationship with their family members and can't dissociate from what they're reading/watching, however, can be forgiven for being disgusted by such a thing.

I believe most people are turned on by the power imbalance/betrayal aspects. "this is a person who is supposed to protect me, instead they're eating me". More acceptable parallels lie in master/apprentice (goth milf witch anyone?), boss/employee, or teacher/student stuff.

Another angle would feed into the doting mushy kind of love boiling over into sexual territory, bearing parallels with former caretaker/ward and knight/lady (by position, not gender) or similar setups.

I've had people tell me they feel guilty, weird, or deviant for requesting such content who've expressed relief when they discover that the alternatives above gave them the same fix.

Even if fictional incest is your thing, as long as you don't act out on it, and don't bring people to harm, you shouldn't beat yourself up for it. If you're actually looking at your family members though, get some help, the issue is likely a chemical/brain one, not a moral one: you are not evil.

You know who was a real sexual deviant? The first person to have the idea of drinking cow milk. That dude must have been a pervert.

I’d say it’s more important to be objective of Christians want to be taken seriously.

I don’t necessarily think incest was as bad in Christian-judeo beliefs as fornication, which happens way more often in our society and honestly causes a lot more damage to children than anyone cares to admit.

Well, as for me, it's all the same. Incest, fornication, adultery...fucking stupidity of adults ending up affecting their children.

I understood the thing about the passage. As for incest being cool or not, we talk about fiction here, not real-life.
