I grew up reading, actually, my first memory is of my mother reading Rapunzel to me. After getting frustrated in elementary school by writing assignments on how spring is beautiful for the third time in fourth grade, I took it into my hands and started writing essays for myself. It evolved from short fiction to flash fiction, and then I wanted to go big and started writing long pieces, of which I finished only one in my native language. After entering uni, I switched to English because I could actually get people to read what I write that way, not just through competitions. And I didn't stop since. So I've got a truckload of WIPs just waiting to be developed.

I've spent a large chunk of my life reading, and have always had multiple worlds existing in my head at all times. Eventually, I read A Tail's Misfortune by AuthorSME and talked with them about it, and they inspired me to start writing. Unfortunately, extreme depression makes it incredibly difficult to actually get writing done, much as I enjoy it >.<

I started writing in 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, and the reason was because I couldn't find anything I liked and I had enough time, so I thought: I will create a story that I like and I will share it with people!

But the result didn't turn out as I imagined and I stopped for a while, but I started writing again this year.

What about you guys?
Schizophrenia. Everyone were asking for their turn to be written.

I was bored out of my mind. Nothing had color, when I started writing. We just finished a very intensive campaign at work, and after that, there was no work for me. (I am an intern in public administration.) So, while I sat on my desk, I got the bright idea to open a blank document, and spew some word vomit on the pristine white page. (Nowadays I need to spew my word vomit on a premium writing site, with timed quests. Still, I feel that, if I stop writing, I will end up like a zombie.)

Uh, 1st grade. We had to copy the letters of the alphabet. If we didn't, we'd fail the class and have to take it again. Then I'd draw little stick figures walking among the letters, then I added in various traps and ways the stick figures would fall into the traps and the horrible deaths they would experience. Then the teach got very worried and called my parents and I had to write more as punishment. Sort of never stopped.

I understood the parody that Starship Troopers was doing back in 3rd grade. I hated how no one else understood that it was satire on top of another satire. So, I wanted to make one myself. To hell with Star Wars! Military sci-fi ftw!

Ended up writing a strip-club story that was about twenty pages long...

Recently, Star Wars. The amount of vitriol I have towards the last few movies can't be placed into proper words. Someone was paid for that monstrosity.

When I was 9, I saw that my mom was trying to write a novel, so I imitated her. Thus the story of Tarty Fart vs The Giant Mutant Ice Cream Cones was born. Something that I wrote on notebook paper and showed to my family and friends. Unfortunately, it has been lost… After that I would come up with random ideas, but rarely did I ever put them to paper. 3-4 years ago, I started reading web novels using novel updates, and then Scribble Hub. So I decided to write a couple of my ideas down and then publish them here, but I do get quite embarrassed at the poor quality of my work.
I do so wish I could read Tarty Fart vs The Giant Mutant Ice Cream Cones.
I've always been writing since I learned how.

But what made me post my current story... I was reading a lot of stories where people with serious issues just magically got over them because a cute girl showed up and kissed them, or because they got one or two wishes granted.

I wanted to write a story where serious effort went into recognizing and then solving the problem.
I so agree with you.
The more I write, the more I can't take TV. Really? Do they think life works like that?

I just felt I could write similar stories but better. So I did.
Got the feeling with the Rising of the Shield Hero. I like this story, I really do, but I find the narration a bit lax, so I though 'hey, what if I use something like this, but with a thicker narration style?'
I was eleven by that time, and my first story (Champion of Mortals) was...! A complete failure.
I never gave up tho, and started writing story after story and discarding whatever I found somewhat lacking.
Then I started posting my stories so people could help me improve. It came as quite a surprise that people actually likes my story and... Well, I can't make money out of it, but it's a hobby I enjoy

I’ve been writing since I was like three even though it was just a story about a train blowing a lot of smoke and puffing along the page until it gets to the end of the page and is off the page. In junior high I was such a loser who didn’t have any friends that I just spent lunch walking around and coming up with adventurous stories. In high school I tried to go a couple years without stories and actually be social with humans and all that and that wound up kind of stupid so I went back to stories after a break and it’s just the most natural thing for me. There are times when I feel like I need to desperately refuel by reading at a furious pace but it eventually leads back into writing at a furious pace.

When I was a youngin', I had a wild imagination and I could come up with a story on the spot after being prompted. Video Games fed the imagination as did books. When I started watching Anime, there was a chatbox on the episode viewing page where people roleplayed. I did a bit of that, learned I wasn't half bad at it, and then found out there were entire forums for roleplaying. Me being interested in Halo, I found a roleplaying board themed after the game and never looked back.

I read a lot... a lot! Go to the library every three weeks, plus I read books on my bookshelves. So I thought, Well, let's try it.
I have the time, I have ideas, and I definitely like to write.

I write mostly science fiction but I have ventured into fantasy and horror (very slightly)

I first wrote poetry to vent out my frustrations. It was good stress relief then and now, as well as good practice, since it forced me to focus on every word I write. But later on, as I started writing short stories and attempted fragmentary novels, I started writing more and reading more and focusing my efforts on storytelling and characters instead of just venting out my emotions. What started out as a way for me to vent has become a hobby of mine, and it has saved my life. If I never picked up writing back then, God knows how I would have turned out.

Well, as someone who reads a lot eventually it becomes harder to find things one likes. If not enough of certain kinds of stories exist then how to fix that?
