I listen to YouTube videos. Mostly just loud YouTubers to fill in the silence while I think of dialogue.

I do to , I have to be vibing and dancing in my seat when I am writing really happy scenes lol. Even though I listen to dj depending on the scene I am writing I might skip lol.
I do this as well, but sometimes i just listen to songs regardless of what i'm writing, which could be jarring to some people.

Like i could be writing a happy scene right now while having chino moreno screaming about how we should never do meet again.

An important character is dying in a sad and tragic way? sex song

Either piano symphonies or in complete darkness with only the soft blows of the fan.

Jazz, or Russian underground bands whose music is more suitable for psychological attack than for a productive day.

Казенный Унитаз is one of those bands. Although calling them underground is kinda wrong... Give them a listen, if you dare.

Instrumental, and classical. It depends on the energy of the scene. Like if I'm writing a combat scene, I'll rock some Sabaton

it's really depends. Sometimes I put on music and blare it through my sound cancelling headphones, and sometimes Put on youtube reddit-reader videos and just zone out while I write. I've even gotten as crazy as to put on actual shows. usually any show that doesn't actively interest me is good. So things like Warehouse 13 and Sanctuary. Tried with Eureka, but that show always pulls my attention away.

If it's sci-fi setting it's usually synthwave and stuff like The Anix, Celldweller, Gunship, Timecop1983,... If it's fantasy then usually just rock. Lately Getting Away With Murder Papa Roach slaps me right into a mood to write. I got an idea for an edgy early 2000-vampire-movies-style story, so I'm predicting a lot of Evanescence on the playlist :blob_evil: I just like it when the music fits the theme

Figured that I'm not the only one who listens to some tunes while writing, but I'm curious what the majority of writers here listen to.
For example, i just listen to whatever lmao. Most of the time, it coincidentally matches with who i'm writing, but even if they don't, i just like to listen to music.
Here is a VERY small portion of the music I listen to while writing. A few of my playlists that I like to go between to match up with the vibes and inspiration I want to fill my environment with. I personally found song choice to be really important to me. Some songs to really pull me out of the mood I need for writing a scene, while some are perfect for the moment, only to go out of fashion after I have listened to them a bunch in a row. Sometimes it feels like I leech a song of the creativity it can impart in me, and then move on to the next one like a swarm of locusts. Unfortunately, I don't think many of the few playlists I posted showed up. Oh well.

Depends on the mood. If I'm writing Scenery, I listen to Elder Scrolls music :blob_aww:

For slice of life, I like Anime comedy music :blob_okay:

But I actually listen to music to get me started, I turn it off and write in silence when I'm really going in with the content typing 1k words in under 30 minutes. It's rare but it feels great when the brain juices are flowing!

As long as it doesn't have any lyrics I'll be able to focus. I mostly keep to movie and video game soundtracks, classical music, instrumental music, and so on.

Music without the lyrics, b/c hearing lyrics would interfere with me while writing.
