IRL UFC is fun, Hema is boring. Fiction I prefer mixture of Unarmed range, Melee range, and Extended range. If you have a spear or a halberd in your hands, doesn't mean you can't drop it and switch to grappling for example. It's fun when all three are mixed together, however, I must add that Melee range should take the most screen time, if that makes sense.

Melee range, but highly mobile. I like it when a fight has the participants moving around a lot, constantly changing positions and having to adapt to shifting battlefield. Like how mistborn will steeljump around like human pinballs in Mistborn.

It doesn't considering how many even know about Hema. If it was that exciting to look at, it would've become the next big thing. Yet the reality of it says the opposite. Hema is extremely niche. And before you point out that it is 'young', MMA is 30-40 or so years old. Modern MMA is less than 20 years old, yet look where it is, and where is Hema. Hopefully sweaty neckbeards won't twist my word as if I shit-talk how hard Hema is.
