Apparently there's a lot of variation around the timing, intensity, and duration of when people feel most helpless under stress. Please feel free to share how you experience stress also.

like a grinding white noise that permeates existence and slowly moment by moment creeps deeper into the brain until one day you wake up and realize the tentacles are rooted so deep that to sever them is to destroy the organism so you drink a bottle of scotch each morning but nothing's the same anymore dogs don't bark as beautiful roasted baby seals don't taste as delicious as they used to and the entirety of your being is denigrated by the utter mundanity of an ever-changing universe sans novelty so you say fuck it and get a lobotomy

I have near permanent anxiety constantly, but when something new and stressful happens it just layers itself on top. Even speaking to other people causes some part of my body to twitch.

I don’t even remember the last time I got upset. Maybe many years ago when I was very young; maybe not even that. I’m always a happy person as far as I can remember.

Though, when I was younger I was more prone towards stress than right now. Now I rarely get stressed, if not at all. When I’m in a tense situation, I’ll immediately stay calm—calmer than usual. (It happens automatically, maybe to best operate under stress or something.) Then I’ll be able to quickly solve whatever problem I’m facing and then be done with it once and for all.

I’m extremely rational and decisive—sometime dismissive and cold, depending on how you look at it. I live by the saying: if life gives you a lemon, then maybe you lack vitamin C.

I immediately lock up, and my brain shuts down. Mainly when yelled at. Pretty sure it's a conditioned response from when I was a kid. Shut up, be still, and look at me was heard alot as a kid. Never did get over it. Even got a panic attack once during my time as tech support. It bled into my basic stress response around middle school age. I recover within an hour once the stress stops so that I can move, but I stay high strung and depressed for days.

I don't get upset that often, but when I do it's usually some small or petty thing. I think it's just that everything stresses me and the small things just send me over the tipping point sometimes, which is why I get irritated over little things. I usually get angry for a small amount of time and then just sad for a few hours. Then I deal with headaches for the next forever cause they never stop.

I have a hard time getting stressed or having anxiety since I've been around chaotic people my entire life. It's just a constant state so I got used to it to the point that very few things make me stressed.

I can't relax until I have all my shit done. This morning, I noticed my jackfruit starting to rot a little and couldn't wait another second to cut it open and start tearing it apart. I put coconut oil on my hands before I was done cutting, and my husband had to jump in and finish cutting it for me.

I am always in stressful home environment and it had bled into my school and work life, which resulted in... unfavorable backlashes.

Moral of the story, bottle your feelings up might be detrimental, but spilling the toxic gained from somewhere else into your professional space is a guaranteed catastrophe. Either you learn how to empty those feelings where no one knows or cares or suck it up. Ignoring the sources of toxicity do not help when they know how to adapt and hit below the belt.

I totally get what you're saying! Stress from home can definitely spill into other areas of life. It's a tough balancing act, and bottling up emotions can backfire. Finding healthy outlets to release that stress can be a game-changer. But you're right; it's not always easy. Sometimes, you've got to navigate work or school when you're carrying that weight. If it ever gets too much, remember there's a panic attack hotline available. They're there to lend an ear when you need it. Hang in there, and keep finding ways to manage that stress.

I deal with it there and then, and then ignore it for the rest of my life.

I ain't living long enough to stress about things, Fuck that. If I don't acknowledge the problem, it doesn't exist.
