Depending on what I commission and the Quality of what I know I will be getting, between 50 and 300.

But then again, I can draw my own covers and illustrations, so I only need to commission art styles I can't do myself.

It depends on how much I like the artist's other work. Also, some illustrators rarely do comms so if they do open up for comms then it is a pay up or miss out moment.

I think there are multiple factors that play into it. If its just a nice picture i don't have any use for, maybe 5 bucks. But if it's for a picture for a story i'm really invested into then this number can easily go up to 100 if its done well. Maybe double that if it's the cover picture and it's really well done.
So all in all quality and purpose are the deciding factors for me. Well and my own financial situation.

If it is a bi-weekly or patreon internet novel I’m not paying more than a dollar for 3-5 chapters.
