What is the hardest, heaviest, lightest, and easiest part of writing the plots in your novel?

Me:
  1. Hardest: Writing epic battle scenes.
  2. Heaviest: Writing dark scenes like silent genocide.
  3. Easiest: Writing dialogue between characters.
  4. Lightest: Writing scenes about slice of life about young mother (FMC) and her little daughter.

1. Hardest - Maintaining and developing my plot/Developing relationships
2. Heaviest - Writing dark scenes that involve my MC's love interest getting hurt
3. Easiest - Going off the rails I laid for my plot =S
4. Lightest - Having one of the side characters always walking in on people in intimate moments.

Hardest: Not moving on to a different story
Heaviest: Forcing plot points that made sense initially, are needed for the overall story, but no longer slip in seamlessly
Easiest: Light banter
Lightest: Light banter

hardest writing: sex scene. I'm not like most smut writers anymore. I watched my own wording.
heaviest scene: none so far, but I would do genocide scene sometimes in the future lmao.
easiest: politicking.
lightest: father and son scene.

1) Hardest: Actually getting started.
2) Heaviest: Writing scenes that were reminiscent of the shit I went through when I fought for my student.
3) Easiest: Mixing actual history with my novel/scenes.
4) Lightest: Scenes that I already repeated a thousand times in my head.

Hardest/Heaviest (there's not really a difference for me): Exposition and banter. If I don't watch myself, I'll spend pages just infodumping all the important plot details on the reader. I'll try to work it more naturally into dialogue, but if I'm not equally careful, everything will devolve into what people have started calling "Marvel Snark."

Easiest/Lightest: Action scenes. Once people start fighting, everything gets easier. Especially if they have cool powers or an interesting arena to fight in.

Hardest: It's a battle between writing important dialogue, or writing battle scenes. To me, the most crucial parts of a story is pretty much the turning points.
Heaviest: Writing scenes that are either dark, or when a character is going through their lowest point. Sometimes, I write from the heart in these scenes.
Easiest: Writing slice of life moments in my story. It is generally easier when the characters are at rest instead of being in battle.
Lightest: Pieces of comedy or bickering with the other characters. I always love it when characters strengthen their chemistry by doing this.

Hardest: Making sure I don't reuse certain phrases/words too close too one another after hours of writing. E.G too many instances of hands/eyes/gaze/etc. I'm really bad at that.

Heaviest: Disturbing scenes. Just feel weird having to step into that characters head or having to describe it from another POV. I reckon if I feel weird writing it it should have the intended effect on readers.

Easiest: Dialogue. Super easy for me. I've never struggled much writing dialogue.

Lightest: I guess fight/action scenes? Didn't really know what to put for this. I don't do them often but when I do they are really fun and easy. Probably because I don't do them often.

  • Hardest: Anything to do with technology, space exploration, computers, and such. Requires so much research and I hate it sometimes. I wish I had a powerful imagination like those folks that can write "Star Wars" or "Star Trek" fan-fiction. ?
  • Heaviest: When dealing with really touching topics; death, suicide, religion, politics.
  • Easiest: Shockingly, it's horror. I love horror in all its forms and I make no bones about how easy it is to write for me.
  • Lightest: Definitely slapstick comedy; not just visual, but banter in dialogue between others.

Having spent a lot of time "in" the Star Wars universe, a firm knowledge of science can get in the way of SW scenarios. It helps a LOT with B5, Star Trek, etc. but is NOT an asset with Star Wars. Knowledge of classic and Asian cinema is far more useful, especially old war movies and martial arts films.

That's a very good point, Charles, and one I overlook. We ARE dealing with other planets, other universes, so the game has changed. Earth rules no longer apply. Thank you; you gave me ANOTHER reason to find that writing difficult as Hell. lol

Hardest: being consistent in my writing. Nah, but fight scenes that matter and give a meaning to the story.
Heaviest: children human bombs (don't ask about it, just don't)
Easiest: character's inner thoughts
Lightest: Writing dark, with no moral value or beyond human emotions.

Hardest- Remembering the names of all my characters
Heaviest- writing conflicts that won't get me censored by retarded Karens and Peters.
Easiest- Action. It's not hard to describe it when you have seen it.
Lightest- Mysteries. I have been a gamemaster for darn near 40 years. After a while, you are just so used to coming up with mysterious plotlines that it's second nature.
