What is the difference between 'Readers' and 'Views'

Let's say I have 15 views, no readers. What makes a 'reader' a reader, and what counts as a 'view'??

(using this as an example.)

I’m pretty sure readers are the people with your story in their reading list and views are how many people have seen your story.

If I got it correctly, views are the people who click the header of the story to check the synopsis and information of the story. Readers are the people who click on the chapter box or the “reading” list. Basically a reader is someone who puts your story on their reading list. If you go into the Create section of your story, and go to Statistics, if you click “valid reads” that’ll tell you how many people have spent over a minute on the chapter themselves.

To add on that, if you click on the statistics on your story you can see something like this, where vies chapters only counts the displays of your story, while total views all also shows people who looked at the general page of your book

I was wondering why you would black out the particulars about your story rather than enjoy the free advertisement of just including that stuff, then I search up your name and see it's because it was just posting some pictures that have since been taken down and it all makes sense.

I don't like to shamelessly advertise my stuff, and its not because of the photos getting taken down those could only be up for a certain amount of time since i had to convert them from screenshots to urls and the website I used to do so didn't have any permalinks
