My definition is "The protagonist is a member of the harem". It's like she/he is a consort within the group. For example, she is a concubine of her husband along with other female characters.

The definition of a Reverse Harem is:
Comedy version: Bakarina
Realistic (dark) version: Polyandry
This is one of those genres that gives me goosebumps even without reading the fiction. :s_eek: :s_eek:

The definition has given by the site and the only one that matters:

Harem
A series involving one male character and many female characters (usually attracted to the male character). A Reverse Harem is when the genders are reversed.

Reverse Harem
Where a (usually) female protagonist is surround by guys. Harem is the where the genders are reversed.

So if the protagonist has no fixed sex and their harem members has multiple sexes, flexible genders sexes and/ or no sex at least. What do I call this?

call it a harem and leave it at that...

If you want to write with gender bent/futa/gender swapping stuff so everyone can be anything or whatever, calling it a harem is fair blanket coverage. I don't know if anyone in that community came up with a special term for something like that, that market being even more niche than my own writings LMAO!

the reverse harem was mainly meant as a way to describe a FMC to have a bunch of dudes,

Problem with reverse harem is that you don't know who the father is.
Funny enough, for a concept I have worked out, this isn't an issue.

It's part of a setup for an elven queendom, where a queen-to-be is required (by law/founding charter) to find at least three consorts who she wants to also have as her councilors. Those consorts would then be required to take a specific ritual oath of loyalty that includes some other magic. Part of that magic ensures that every consort will be part-father of every child of the queen.

This also means that each time the queen wants to conceive a child (which is always a daughter), the queen has to sleep with every councilor at least once, or the magic will not fully implement.

Another aspect of the magic is that the queen will always 'breed true': her daughters will always be effectively full elves, no matter the species of her fathers. But some aspects of the paternal lines are always incorporated, so the royal line has some potent magic affinities from other bloodlines, such as kitsune levels of talent with illusions.

I was talking about in real life believable writing situations, not with magic involvement. Writing magic can make anything happen.

Fair, but for modern IRL, that's what paternity tests are for.

Lol, demand a paternity test and watch the modern woman get angry.
You can always do the DNA testing on your own, without telling the woman. But not sure if that will hold up in court, and it might be considered illegally gathered evidence.

Well, the not knowing who the father is, is the fun part of the story. You get to explore the mystery and get readers to puzzle over the real identity of the parent.

It's all a gigantic hoax. A lie.

Widely accepted (and the correct) definition is fmc and multiple male love interests.
