What if you want to write something that you think most people hates?

Let's just say, in the environment filled with wish-fulfillment power fantasy and instant self-gratification, you felt like writing one where the main characters get treated like shit and mostly suffered things that many would feel unpleasant to experience.

That you kinda got sick of them always getting what they want, and want to explore the side when one failed, and even killing off the main character if necessary. No glorification or silver lining in the bad things at all.

Or you just felt like writing these cuckold / ntr scenarios which a lot of ppl hate in here, etcetera.

Would you still write and publish them, even if it might get a lot of hate and drama?

I personally don't like getting caught in one at all so i mostly kept the stuff trimmed down or don't publish them at all, but i admit there's one side of me who wants to see one set of characters mostly happy, while others suffer to no end and thinking of stuff to ruin their lives.

Yeah, it can be complicated.

Yeah I am writing that.

Then I stopped a year ago.

Am continuing now.

Remembering why I stopped and hate the work

Now on a flim flam.

I probably won’t read it, but why should you care about that? Just write what you want to read and have fun with it. I’m sure there are some readers who are into that kind of stuff. Just write for yourself. Have fun~ ✌?
The problem comes when the main reader, the author, is having second thoughts about continuing the work.

Write what you want is easy, continue on is hard.

well write whatever you want, make an alt account or something i guess. but dont expect poeple to love you for writing what they dislike, just write for yourself. These wish fulfillment novels are often written because we self insert ourselves in them, most of the authors that write such things want escapism from reality, so we are the same as you, we are merely writing the story for ourselves, if they get popular it is a completely different topic to be honest, everyone must always write what they like and enjoy, or it becomes a chore

I have a MC who goes back in time to prevent the FL from becoming a doormat with no personality and save her from her abusive family, but he screws up. The FL now hates him with a passion and doesn't want to have anything to do with him anymore. He dies alone with a broken heart and no one to mourn him.

Maybe you just have to stay drunk all the way through. Successful writers don’t really care about the readers and the markets; they’re just in it for fun or some comfort or some escape. I’m still learning that. Just got to get more drunk and say fuck it all and start typing.

Add a fucking tragedy tag on, and it will be perfect.

Honestly I wanna see someone make the most worst novel and then in the middle it goes 180 and everything that was worst turned to be a part of a plot.

Honestly, as an author, why should you care?

I mean, duh, as an author, you want your work to be praised by many and maybe you want your work to be the best-selling book of the year, so sometimes you have to give in to the demands of the readers, but give in too much will diverge your book from what you originally envisioned, and that could do more harm than good.

So, should you do that? That really depends on you, but let me just tell you this: it is your story to tell, not theirs; write what you desire and there will always be people who will enjoy it. "There is a community for everything and anything" is what my friend (who is a writer, but not an author yet) would say.

I mean look at "Lolita." Such a controversial novel, but it was still widely sold to many and many loved it because of its "forbidden fruit."

Even if there's haters, even if they are the majority, there will always be people who enjoy your novel, no matter how controversial the story is. So focus on them.

However, don't forget that you are responsible for whatever things may happen because of the controversial novel you may write. Imagine it as Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. Because of Joker's actions in doing what he felt was right, he has influenced others to do the same, regardless of whether they are right or wrong. I really hope I'm getting my message through you: you are telling a story the moment you write a novel and that story could influence people for the better or worst.

What do you think all my stories are? I write what I want because otherwise I wouldn't be motivated to write anything.

The story I'm currently writing has a healthy dose of suffering, but it is mostly caused by the MC
