What have you guys written today?
I wrote this today, approximately 450 words:
The cold aluminum ladder was five steps tall, I was the third person in, and stood there for a second to look around. The inside of the Hopeful was a dull grey with a row of benches and seatbelts that belonged in a rollercoaster. There was a door to my right that I assume led to the cockpit. I hurried to the back seat when I heard someone else start up the ladder.
My footsteps echoed, and so too did the footsteps of the eight students behind me. It was about five minutes later when Miss Ley entered after us. “Everyone get seated I will go around and make sure everyone is properly fastened and buckled up. If anyone has a medical issue arise in the ascension, pull the cord on the wall next to your seat. Keep all items on you in your pockets, or in the drawer at your feet.” As she said that, I heard some of my classmates opening and closing those drawers. Why did I sit in the back? If someone drops something it will fall towards me! As I was trying to decide if it was too late to change seats, Miss Ley finished speaking. “… I expect you to keep relatively still and quiet. I will be seated upfront, but first let me introduce you to one of your observers.” As she spoke, someone exited the cockpit. He was wearing a green military jacket and green pants. He had a hiking backpack and boots on as well.
“This is Jeremy Summer, he will be assisting me in our journey through the resonance well. As well as observing to make sure no accidents happen, else make sure they are addressed immediately.” Miss Ley said as the man shyly waved. “Why don’t you introduce yourself?” She looked back at him as she continued. He nodded and stepped in front of her.
“Hello, I am Jeremy Summer, a Senior Hopeful Pilot of ten years, and will be an observer of your march through the resonance well. If you have any issues or questions feel free to ask.” He said. He scanned us as if to ask if we had any questions before continuing. “Alright, since you have no questions, why don’t we get you guys properly fastened and buckled up. No point in dilly dallying, right?” Miss Ley nodded her head as the both of them began going through and buckling us up while making sure the belts were properly tightened and secured. I was the second to last to be buckled, before the two took their seats at the front and buckled themselves up. Jeremy pulled out his phone and texted something before the Hopeful began to move.
