What genres do you dislike?

I don't like stories that glorify monogamy.

I agree with this sentiment, which is the main issue I have with most harem type stories.

The most frequent reason I drop a story though is if the protagonist is too vengeful or bloodthirsty. I don't find enjoyment in reading about murder-hobos.

For me, the worst is sci-fi. I can't stand the obsession with technology and grimdark futures, nor the need to try and make everything sound scientific and rational. The aesthetic is pretty piss poor too.

Fusions with fantasy can be nice if they lean heavily on the fantasy, but otherwise... I'll almost never get around to reading it.

When it comes to Sci-fi, I prefer either the horror side, or the supernatural side. I quite dislike those psa’s disguised as a drama or thrille…

NTR. I just don't like it. Netori can be "alright" if done well, but honestly I find NTR to be mostly boring. Most of the execution is just completely off. And the problem with that also is, that any "good NTR to me" would probably end up as drama instead.

Besides that, there are some I have no real interest in. Yaoi and Yuri for starters. I have nothing against them, but the few stories I read felt like "cheap romances, but we get away with it because special". There might be good ones out there, but I haven't read them and I don't really have the motivation to go looking. Same with sports as main-genre in written form. Visual storytelling is just that much more important.


For the rest: I read most stuff, if it is done either well or entertaining. Weirdly enough, I enjoy reading a lot of stuff I would hate to write. I always have the need to try and make my stories a bit different and "off-the-norm" in some form...

I actually don't despise any genres. Yes, I don't outright hate harem or NTR but the story has to be VERY well written for me to actually like it. There are some genres that i will most likely never write though such as smut or non-supernatural modern fics due to my incapability to make something i am satisfied with.

I don't dislike or hate anything outright.

However, I won't voluntarily seek out stuff like smut or gender bender unless it's by a friend, and I found some to enjoy on the site. I don't hate those. Add BL to that too. I don't hate it but it's just not for me most of the time. I'm obviously not the target demographic in the first place.

I'm also not too fond of system novels since I feel the stats and tables cut into my flow of reading.

However, there are some stories from said genre that I also enjoy very much.

Idk. I don't normally pursue stories that are in genres I'm not interested in so idk how those genres truly are like.
That said, I filter out isekai/harem on SH. I don't think I'm just that interested in sports also.

GB, BL, GL, and all derivatives of those genres. If one of these genres is the main genre and defines the storyline, I won't read it. But if it's a subgenre and done well, I have no qualms reading a story with it.
