Hello all, I was just curious about the main thing that draws you to a story. Whether it’s escaping reality, cheering for a powerful MC, or diving into a rich world, we all read for different reasons. For me, I often like escapism, power fantasy, and some amount of the love stuff. What do you like? Choose up to three.

Interesting concept (which can include some or most of those criteria above - or none of them) and a sense of humor.

@Macha, @CharlesEBrown, @Tempokai
I guess I missed a lot, so I added those.
Im with @Tempokai and will mostly search for something that is enjoyable to read. Most other things dont factor in as heavily.

The narrative tone, voice, presentation, and general prose quality tend to be the biggest thing for me.

I will enjoy something more if I like how it feels to read. Other factors will come into play for sure but this usually has the most weight.

Apart from the three things I have voted, what I want is exploring the intricacies of polygamous relationship, how to do it right without making it fell into the same self-fulfillment trope (but the end will still be fulfilling, just not as much as for my fulfillment and more as for everyone), as well as the dynamics of the harem and how the protagonist deal with it.

As for the kingdom building, what I want to see & read is the perspective of a protagonist who inherited the higher position, how they run things beyond the surface and how pragmatic they would have to be without ruining their reputation—primarily from the readers who felt sanitized by the ungodly amount of plot armor

I'll be honest, I don't actually like power fantasies where MC becomes the biggest cock.

I like fantasies where MC doesn't have to take shit from other people.

I'm a big fan of holistic stories, tales that try to capture the whole spectrum of the human experience and emotions.

Yeah, I'm talking about 3-gatsu no Lion again. It's actually perfect. It's so worldly too, like you can tell the author is an actual human being who is super interested in and empathetic towards other human beings.

I want a story that sucks me in and keeps me there. It is very hard for most media to do this to me anymore. I could spend days in a book as a child, hell, even as a young adult, but now, the portal into those worlds feels tattered, worn, and lost. May such stories be felt again.
