What do you use to keep track of your plots, skills, characters and the sort?
(Me after learning your cheats)

tried and true, tested method

keeping everything in physical black and white does it for me. i don't have any intricate system or method. i just write it down, and make sure I remember that I have written it down, so I will look back and get on track whenever I start writing.

No offence but your handwriting is pretty bad:/

Zim, A Desktop Wiki. This is much less disruptive to the writing process compared to online story organizer, which could lag, loads slowly, have connection error or can't be reached at all when the internet is down. Zim's save-files are also plain text. So in case you just want to share it with people who doesn't have zim, you can, and they can open it without the software.

Your hand writing also sucks, also I can’t claim to have better hand writing

Took a look at it, looks good but it’s way too simplistic for me, but thanks for showing it off, I really appreciated it
O
An app called Story Plotter, and a notebook with bunch of sticky notes.
Oh what a coincidence I also happen to have story plotter, although I’m not really it’s biggest fan. Also, if it doesn’t inconvenience you too much, can I see your note book, please. Sorry for the inconveniences!
I am jealous of you people
Hmm, in some notes that I will never be looking at again or in my dreams.

Thank you, have a nice day
Did you just forget about them?

Bibisco. It’s an offline app, so no internet connection is needed. There’s a free and paid version. I use the paid one (one-time payment), but the free one also has a decent amount of features (character sheets, locations, chapters, auto backup …).

Example of the character sheet.

I just have an MS Word document with a few details of each character listed out.

If I have some idea for the future, I put it there too. I try to keep it organized and divided into subsections, but it honestly doesn't have that much written in it. It's mainly there to make sure I don't forget stuff.

one thing i found out about this thread is that there are 3 types of writers:

- the one who catalogues everything and has a subcategory for even the type of blue a magic circle will be in
- the one who just sort of 'eh's and make general notes so they wouldn't forget
- LEEEEROOOOOOOY JEEEEEENKIIIIIIINS

Ywriter for specifics. M.Word for random phrases/scene that I will completely forget about the next time I see. Random blots of ideas on pieces of paper that I will also forget the context too. Brain for all the important parts so I won't forget and misplace them.

Dreams, musings, random pages in a new notebook...(yes, am unorganized). There's some interesting apps though -
  • Pluot - okay
  • MyStory - need sign in or wipes it out what you wrote
  • Novelist - confusing to navigate at 1st but its free
  • Writer's Tools - only plan 1 story at a time. Expensive
  • Regular any note type of an app

Didn’t find what M.Word is, is that Microsoft word. Sorry I didn’t come up with anything

Looked into what you recommended,
Pluot is worse than average, not allowing for one to add/alter new templates
Mystery looks interesting and I might use it. Also it’s stuff looks a lot like the scribblehub interface with the typing stuff
Novelist looks really fricking interesting
Writer’s tool is just Novelist but simpler but stupid because only one story. Thanks for the recommendations
