Change it. Come up with an option that you like better. Rewrites are a thing for a reaon. Don't be afraid of the delete key.
I am on version number 4 of my story(it was a complete seat of my pants story, no real planning), and I am finally at the point where I am starting a reread/edit from the get go with no major revisions planned, just fleshing out and adjusting dialogue and flow. But, I can honestly say it has gotten better with each revision, even if it is a very different story than what it started out as.... Part of that is after thinking about the story more I have more and better ideas, part is that after writing more I am getting better.
Save a separate copy on your computer and go to town, if you don't like the changes, you still have your original.
