I learned that when Moldova became a soviet block state they forced the populous to abandon the Latin alphabet they used and switch to the Cyrillic alphabet.

It is kinda interesting because it is like the same kind of thing with East / West germany happened with Romania / Moldova.

I learned that Annie Lennox was thought to have gotten a sex change because of her videos on MTV in the 80s. Also, because she took a wig off and wore a suit it counted as cross dressing. They pulled eurymthmics video from MTV until she could produce a birth certificate to show that she was in fact female.

Which is ironic because sweet dreams are made of this was her expression of dispair about how the music industry was ruining their lives.

Mavulis Island is the closest island in the Philippines to Taiwan. Part of the joint military exercise were defending that island from a PRC attack.

The providential government didn't like that because they don't want to get involved in a conflict between two super powers.

(Also, correct me if I'm wrong but that island just looks like a big rock)

I learned that Tomahawks are purely a European invention. Introduced by our favorite pedo John Smith of Pocahontas fame from his embellished and romanticized stories of the native population. It's only associated with American Indians because it was one of the most common traded goods to them. Mostly because of the iron being superior to the stone and bronze tools they had. Also, the "unique" designs of the different areas attributed to them are from the different markets. i.e. the spaniards, french, etc.

The design of a small axe head was preferred over the household axes the colonist had for being too unwieldy for their purposes. Basic smithing and at times the axes weren't even properly heat treated. It was only after the Indians started to trade for iron ore that they still kept the boarding axe design but, made the more elaborate styles.
