  • I learned that tipping over a 36kg dumbbell onto a smartphone causes it to shatter.
  • Watched a video on Kowloon Walled City and discovered it had a population density of 1.25 million (though the population was assumed to be around 35-50k). [Link]
  • Spain fired that weird director dude who had a spicy background. [Link]
  • Trevor kindagotalittleangry and kidnapped some dude's wife.
  • I learned about Microclimates and that the coldest locations on some some mountain ranges are actually in air-pocket bowls in valleys. The science behind it is quite fascinating. [Link]
  • Ukraine is gonna snatch back Crimea (soonTM) and it potentially is going to uproot Russia. [Link]

The founding fathers thought that giving the federal government the ability tax citizens directly would give it to much power.

Keeping this in mind they reluctantly passed a temporary income tax to fund the war efforts for world war 1.

I learned how to remove 50 pin right angle latched connectors from pcb's with a massive ground plane.

Genuinely this is interesting to me. ?
I've recently come across a term called "Sheep Shaggers". I'm done.

And that definition for "Talon" in urban dictionary still haunts me to this day.
On that subject, it's a derogatory term for a person from Wales; the ratio of sheep to people in Wales is 3 to 1.

I learned that leather black shoes today cost 10,000 pesos which was roughly 176.32 USD. Last time I checked, I could buy them for less than 500 pesos. Oh, I also learned I was actually, and decrepitly poor despite being able to eat three times a day. Looking at the bright side, I could actually afford a pair of shoes if I get them from a thrift shop!
I learned that violence is never the answer. It is a question.
I learned something great today, thanks.

I learned that 800 years ago there was a terrible logistical problem in castles.

People wanted to have a convenient place to pray. So in a castle that would be on the lower floors.

However, one can't put themselves above God so if they built it on the ground floor they couldn't build anything over the prayer area.

That is why some castles have alcoves that stick outside the wall. Technically there is nothing built above it but only barely.

This is a thread for people to share what interesting things they've learned today. It can be anything from introspective philosophy to finding out that you're not a normal person. I'll go first: Today I found out that not only do people think that eating garlic raw is weird, but I also found out that Taco Bell (Destroyer of colons and remover of 90's aesthetics) has been considered the healthiest fast-food restaurant in America for years and Chipotle has topped it this past year.
Apparently the DPRK switched to cultivating potatoes over rice a couple years ago, because their geography is better for potatoes.
