Well, can you explain to me, why GB is always paired with GL.

He's just venting because a story probably didn't match his perfect taste buds.
Ah, got it. Thanks!
I mean, I am curious, and I didn't force you to reply here. If you don't want to talk about it, don't engage with this thread. It's not like I spread misinfromation or anything, it's the opposite. I try to see why people like it.
Oh, okay. I just have a tendency to reply to people who ask me questions. Sorry!
I'm glad you appreciate it. You're welcome. Best regards.
Thank you again! So far I've read your first chapter - and I'm hooked! It's a great book, and I appreciate you introducing me to your work!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'd appreciate it if you could leave a review, including criticism, suggestions, and a rating if you'd take the time. Best regards.

Did not go through this thread, only read OP's.

Here is my two cent, GL is nice or used to be nice.

Then came GB and god forbid, futa.

Guys, if you want to fuck a girl, fuck her as a guy.

Don't BS me with the whole "I've turned into a girl and lesbian scissoring is a-ok~"

Then don't futa. That is penetrative sex with extra steps, one extra step higher than with a strap on.

I used to enjoy GB stories that actually explored how relationships will change, namely a dude who got GB, tried to sleep with his crush but crush is not buying being gay. Then GB slowly feminized and when approached by a les, got turned off etc etc. There is an actual shift in perspective and it was nice.

Until the now girl become masochistic and sending all the wrong messages about all girls being whores who love to be spanked like bad girls.

Yeah, Himegoto Juukyuusai No Seifuku was an interesting read because it was something more than a very closeted gay man self-inserting as a woman, scissoring with another woman. Unfortunately, there isn't really anything like that manga here.

I won't touch Girl's Love. the few times I have by accident...
It feels utterly unnatural, to the point I don't think it can be written without either feeling forced or the characters being so broken and scarred mentally that I wouldn't be able to stand them. The character interactions fail to feel like romance.
In most cases I think they would be better off dropping the relationship part entirely and just stick to having the girls be best friends.

And while we are at it... Boy's love. Just the thought of it makes me want to throw up.
When every fiber of my being screams that "THIS IS WRONG!"... There's probably a reason.

Again, those are my opinions only.

In real life my policy is this:
Do not shove it in my face, and I will try to ignore it as best as I can. If you do go out of your way to shove it in my face, then you deserve the resultant explosion.

I read some of the replies to this thread before going to bed last night, and I woke up with a headache
I've said this millions of times, and I've still yet to be proven wrong in a group setting. The only time women agree as a collective, is when one woman becomes dominant by some unspoken metric women don't typically speak of or point out. I'm not even sure they realize they are doing it themselves And even then, it's not a true agreement, it's just following the head of the herd. But booooooy they get angry, deflect, and deny when you point that out from countless observations.
Women in real life: "Hey, how are you?"

Sorry, it was too tempting.

But anyhoos,

I understand this thread is mostly bait to rile up some forumgoers, but I'll give my two cents anyway :blob_hmm:

I'm a straight dude, but I've read BL and GL (specifically talking about manga because that's what I read most). My completely professional opinion about them is... they're cool.

Like, because they have their own sort of niche, GL (and BL) stories evolve their tropes, dynamics, etc. So I just see them as another flavor of romance story. I've read some gems and some slop, but their gemness and sloppiness often manifest differently than straight romances :blob_hmm:

I haven't really seen that much of the violent, hardcore stuff you talked about. I've seen more straight romances like that (then again, I am talking about manga). The actual hardcore painful to read stuff that's present in a lot of GL manga is... the breakups. These girls love breaking up, and I can't handle it. Not my tender heart.

This is all to say... Yeah, read normal GL. It won't bite you :blob_cookie:

Are not most GL tagged things romance novels with an extra twist?

As for transmasculine stories, I can't really think of a webnovel that I've read. I'm sure there are some out there, it just isn't my cup of tea.

My honest thoughts though? I think this thread is dangerously close to kink-shaming. People have different interests, so one person's like can easily be another person's dislike.
