What are some forms of media you felt really told a story better than a book could?

Now, I want to make it clear I'm not saying that I think games, movies, or any other story telling methods are just better than books in general, but when made by someone who truly understands what they're making, other forms of media can tell an absolutely incredible story that just can't be very well replicated with a book. What are some of your favorite examples of that? For me, I'd say the games Dredge and Love Sam had some incredible twists and revelations a book just couldn't replicate as cleanly, and the story behind them was just as fleshed out as most books.

Direct speech (not audible). Many folktales, legends, and myths are passed down directly to audiences from generation to generation. Elders often tell fiction to the younger generation around campfires, at home, or simply as bedtime stories. The result?

These fictions are not forgotten and even shape the mindset, values, and culture of the community. Fiction lives on in the collective mind of the community and even forms a collective identity.

This shows that direct speech can be an effective medium for conveying fiction.

Unfortunately, direct speech is rarely used in modern fiction. They prefer reading books, listening on audibles, or watching movies, rather than hearing stories directly from others.

Well, I miss the way parents tell their children bedtime stories.

All the oldest stories were poems (songs). With meter and sometimes rhyme. To aid memory.

I still write metered epic length poems for fun. It's a lost art.

Interactive Media (Games) can at times deliver a story far better than novels can; for example, Detroit: Become Human works far better as a 'game' than it could as a novel, because the player directly interacts with the story directly, and gets to experience it on their own terms in a way that a novel can't deliver to the same effect (with its inter-connected, branching, storyline).

But there are also examples where the medium fails to deliver its stories with the same depth and gravitas of the novels being rendered as well, but this one really just seals it for me.

And if you haven't played it yourself yet, definitely give it a try.

Honestly, as a reader and writer I really prefer comics, not because I hate books or anything like that, it’s just when it comes to comics your able to see the characters expressions, their movements and their characteristics that make them different. Tbh i‘m a huge book worm and I love me a good dark romance novel, but for me comics just make me feel a lot more happier and plus I get to see how the characters look like hehe ?
