stuff that you deem “original” still exist, you just gotta wander off the beaten path for it.
In places where content is controlled by corporations, you know, people who want money money money and numbers go up as quick as humanly possible, it’s inevitable that the familiar, most likely to sell stuff gets more exposure by the app’s design and the stuff that are unfamiliar gets relegated to the discovery/genre page unless by some luck, miracle, and insane quality writing it resonates with many people and gets popular, after which there will be a slew of imitators.
and honestly, what does original mean here anyway? Everything is a derivative. Most common fantasy tropes are derived from Tolkien.
