Is it plagiarism if you use a video game's foundation as the basis for a story without totally using the names or other identifying details? Yk inspiration

Unless its blatant, I think it doesn't make it plagiarism at all. You can write anything and not feel like stealing it unless its clearly copying the same concept and not making it an original.

An example would be that you want a character to be a man who makes armor. Another would be Tony Stark.

The first one isn't plagiarism since any person can be defined to make armor since it can be based on blacksmiths or engineers who can make armors.

The second one is purely blatant since you are basically making the same armor as Iron man and thats already a blatant plagiarism.
