When writing it is at a 6-7th grade level when reading it is at 11-12th grade level.
I see, seems its more easy to recongnize a word than to remember it during writing
I am the same I guess.
Thank you for your time.

I can recite and correctly pronounce antidisestablishmentarianism, hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia and pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis on the spot.
But I spent minutes and then gave up trying to remember the word retaliate when I needed it

I wish I could give you the source, but Stephen King once published a list of alternatives. Like eight different ways to say - good, or happy, or said. The guy really does try to help other writers. Like I said, I can't give you the source, but it is out there somewhere. I think about it as I write.

Yes and no — a large vocabulary is a sign that you’ve read a lot. This gives you the foundation to understand what a 'plot' looks like. Maybe, by analogy, you’ll be able to write your own. Or maybe not.
just my opinion
