Just felt like it was now appropriate to post this for some reason.

Yeah.
Those who loved getting their blood sucked and money sucked while being given slop and crap in return... that about sums it up.
Who wants to have their life's blood and earnings sucked away by a crappy company that will only give you menial tasks on a map to do as gameplay?
I don't understand why people are so willing to give themselves to something that doesn't reward them in any real way.

What if I like the old Ubisoft? The Rayman and Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Far Cry 3 type of Ubisoft with a bit of Heroes 5?
The old ubisoft is the same as the new one.
It entices you with empty promises of their 'reputation' then ask that you defend them while they make more money than ever before by selling you slop.

Pretty sure Nintendo is worse now. At least Ubisoft tries to perfectly create games by checking all the boxes on their internal "marketing-based target group surveys" or whatever they call the slob list they use to repaint their borefests, Nintendo doesn't even bother to do that bit of extra work anymore. They pulled a full 180° move and went from gaming French Revolution to gaming Hitler in one swoop.

Also I'm pissed at Nintendo for fucking with Palworld as a kind of powerplay to keep the monster taming genre a niche that only Pokemon gets to really profit from.

True, Nintendo tried to sue on copyright and failed. Then they are trying to sue on patents, which shouldn’t be possible.

Since Palworld already released before they made the claims. On top of that, what they are suing on countless game use it, and did it before Nintendo.

Nintendo is hypocritical since Digimon did monster tamers before them, same with Dragon Quest as well.

They don’t own the genre in any way. Genres cannot be owned. You can patent some things, but only if you did it before it existed.

And even then, for x amount of years. Either way, they have no ground to stand on. If they are successful, the gaming industry will be a mess.

What Nintendo is doing with the pokemon property is something I feared and is absolutely insidious. Now with AI they can pour out endless designs, patent them all, and simply horde cultural clout. They are literally trying to own an entire genre. Because they essentially own it culturally they are trying to own it legally.

I'm still amazed that there are people who defend Assassin's Creed Shadows.
I have nothing but contempt for them.

The sad part is, you got a lot of people that don’t see anything wrong with this. They are not seeing the immense ramification it can have on the gaming industry.

Possible.
Personally, when it comes to games though... I don't feel like it's a fight worth having. I don't work in games, and if there are no games I'll probably do something more productive.

I want to write a monster hunter book with a twist.
