Can you think of any reason it might benefit society to release it? Would you be willing to let someone else finish it?

I would absolutely be willing to let someone else finish it so long as they try to do it justice. As for it benefiting society, well, whether it benefits society or not, I want it to be shared because I spent a bit of time on it and I feel is worth something. No matter whether it's a smile on a reader's face or just someone who wants to waste an hour or two in the beginnings of a pointless story.

People will get excited by the story, only for it to never be finished? That is sort of sad.
