I personally know six people who fell for such PMs. It feels good to be praised, y'know.

Judge these:

If you're asking for a judge, the styles vary too much between the three examples you gave. Though, just with how they approached you, it's likely to be a scam. If your still not sure, see if they can't name specific scenes from your story they wanted to do or what scene specifically inspired them. Also, see if they named any of their commissions and seek them out yourself for further confirmation. I'd assume if someone commissioned work for them, they wouldn't mind putting in a good word or two. And if even then it seems sus, just don't bother.

Usually, if anyone asks you to visit an alternate site it's going to be a scam.

*Seven people.

I fell for one myself. Though I'm pretty sure I can get my money back by contacting the company she works for.

Got several from different scammers, but a lot of them linked to this eve verse person.

just ignore it
I wonder if they linked a real author but the one who sent the PM was a scammer. No artist should be this desperate.

That's great. How much was it anyways? Can we see the art?

I dropped $870 for something so bad I'd rather not send it. I kept all the finished "art," invoices, and the message history on Discord because I'm looking into the possibility of suing her.

Oh, that sucks. If you don't mind me asking, how did you pay?

If it was through paypal, you might be able to get your money back if it wasn't too long ago. If over a card, you might be able to dispute the charges with your credit provider, assuming you don't dispute very often.

Did not even have to finish the first paragraph to know it's a scam. Everything after was just more confirmation.

To be fair, it looks like at least some effort went into picking presentable pictures (well, except the third one, that's just weird), but the wildly different styles are still a red flag.

It was through PayPal, but the last payment was in May of 2025. How would I ask for a refund from PayPal anyway?

Oof, Paypal has a 180 day return window usually. You might be able to call and see if an associate can help you out, but since it was so long ago, and since paypal is a third-party company technically, the money is likely gone. You might get lucky with PayPal if they confirm the user has a previous record of misconduct, they may throw you a bone, but PayPal can be real bastards at times. If it were a credit card, you might have a bit more leeway, but it also depends on the time frame. The sooner the better usually. Over six months can be difficult, especially if that was since the last confirmed payment.

Simpler answer both credit cards and PayPal have numbers you can call for help. See if you can't get ahold of an associate and work it out that way. Though, do remain calm and polite. If you pay through a linked card, you may be able to get the card or account your linked through to refund you if you call the bank or card that's linked. Just again, don't expect much with an over 6-month time frame from the last payment.

As for a lawsuit, since it's under a thousand dollars, most courts won't care much, especially when you consider filing fees and all. Well, unless you do all the paperwork yourself. You'd probably be better off seeing if you can find other users that were scammed and jointly filing against the scammer and seeing if you can't do it that way.

Oh, and all you'll really need to tell them is something along the lines of I paid for a product, and it wasn't what I was promised. Or something along those lines.

Dont just ignore it. At least report such actions. While not instant, these accounts get banned.

Its not a person, really.
These are bots spamming on all sites.
You might get a real person once you switch to a different person, but these scams are widespread and hard to fight because they are not real people.

Bruh it's more reliable to just commission legit artists instead on twitter, vgen, etc. instead of """"people"""" advertising on a niche webnovel writing forum. 870 dollars is a lot for aislop.

My rule of thumb, if the person is glazing you, they are likely trying to scam you. I've had several saying my story is absolutely amazing. I know for a fact this is not true. I did an email exchange with one and found out they were from Pakistan, yet claiming to be from USA. They are likely using AI to generate 'art' with minimal effort, or, just ghost you as soon as they have your money.

Wow... An artist who can draw authentic eastern anime, western comic and copy paste his/her own drawing (the torso is completely off) into an AI piece.

...I'm just an amateur artist, thus my understanding is that each artist have their own style. Even if they try to cross over into foreign, their own distinct style will still leak through. (Eg: I can't draw western comics, cannot capture the eyes and nose.)

Conclusion: Scam.
