I have a friend :blob_teary: everyone around me says overpowered protagonist is boring.
As long as it doesn't just focus on the protagonist destroying mob characters, then I like it, lol.

There's plenty of ways to make an overpowered protagonist story interesting without needing to include battles.

The villain beat down, especially after making them so unlikable.

Power of friendship. Not in a ‘it unlocks a super secret mega attack!’ way, it’s just really nice to see friendship focused on as I get older and still find myself thoroughly disinterested in sex and romance which get viewed as ‘more mature’. I’d love more mature works that focus on friendship.

Also, musical numbers. Musical numbers are great, especially when a diegetic song somehow saves the day, like in Hadestown or Belle.

I second the trope of the protagonist developing things to advance a difficult society. I enjoy a lot series like ascendence of a bookworm, Dr. Stone or release that witch.

This one is more trashy, I like when the MC finds a exploitable loophole of the magic system, using old magic in innovative ways that make it look OP.

I really like awkward scenes where someone has to do something they wouldn't feel comfortable with.

EX: Cloud having to infiltrate a brothel.

Tera/Tina having to be an opera singer.

An apple nymph pretending to be a princess.

I really do like the transition from bottom of the food chain to the top, but it has to be somewhat believable, amd the protagonist honestly HAS to struggle for it.

Villains being overtly nice just for the reveal where they are absolute filth.
Obligatory OP loli slave.
Misunderstandings.
The empty headed one.
"We have saved everyone! We are the good!" *explosions in the background*
Apathetic love from the MC to supporting cast.
Becoming OP by using the most basic knowledge for the situation at hand.
Ratchety equipment falling apart during a fight but still coming out top.
