I currently have four chapters out and the pageviews on each go 58, 53, 58, 36. Five people just skipped over chapter 2?
Those views are on the chapters themselves not the story page. I would presume that the people viewing the following chapters would be the same as the ones that viewed the prior ones. Hence why I don't see an issue with chapter 4 only having 36 for now.Either that, or those 5 people aren't the same people and are just looking.
You would think that but a lot of potential readers like to open the newest chapter or a random chapter for various reasons including but not limited too, using it as a stepping stone to the story page, seeing if the writing quality is the same or better than the first chapter, and/or to see if anything interesting happened in a recent chapter that would make them want to read it. That doesn't mean your hypothesis is incorrect but that there is a lot more too it.Those views are on the chapters themselves not the story page. 30 seconds to be considered a 'valid read'.Also, to be considered a pageview, I think they must stay on the chapter for some minutes.
Note to self. Tag chapters with (R-18) to get 50% more views. Here, people read the first ten to see if they like the story or not and then stop reading. It's not abnormal for the views in the first chapters to be very varied.
Edit: Also, to be considered a pageview, I think they must stay on the chapter for some minutes. If your chapters are too short, scribblehub might not count the view.

In my case, my R18 chapter has about 250% of the views of the two chapters on either side of it. Just as another piece of data for you.Note to self. Tag chapters with (R-18) to get 50% more views.
The two R-18 chapters I have got a spike of about 25% more readers compared to previous chapters as wellNote to self. Tag chapters with (R-18) to get 50% more views.
