I currently have four chapters out and the pageviews on each go 58, 53, 58, 36. Five people just skipped over chapter 2?

Either that, or those 5 people aren't the same people and are just looking.
Those views are on the chapters themselves not the story page. I would presume that the people viewing the following chapters would be the same as the ones that viewed the prior ones. Hence why I don't see an issue with chapter 4 only having 36 for now.

You would think that but a lot of potential readers like to open the newest chapter or a random chapter for various reasons including but not limited too, using it as a stepping stone to the story page, seeing if the writing quality is the same or better than the first chapter, and/or to see if anything interesting happened in a recent chapter that would make them want to read it. That doesn't mean your hypothesis is incorrect but that there is a lot more too it.

Here, people read the first ten to see if they like the story or not and then stop reading. It's not abnormal for the views in the first chapters to be very varied.

Edit: Also, to be considered a pageview, I think they must stay on the chapter for some minutes. If your chapters are too short, scribblehub might not count the view.

The numbers of pageviews between chapters are generally so funky they work only as a very general indicator, and even then they should be taken with a grain of salt. Rereading chapters, skipping chapters, and a lot of other things can cause unpredictable fluctuations there.

I also have an interesting case where I stopped posting chapters for a few months and now that chapter I had stopped at has thrice the views of its neighbors, which doesn't mean anything except that most likely some people were checking if there's a new chapter.
