Your image does need to be hosted on some site, you post image link to have pictures in story.

least that is the one i use
just be aware that some sites are blocked in some countries. so dont put critical information to your story in an image.

if im lazy i also just do a private post on tumblr and link to that. seems to work fine enough so far lol

I usually just share images via imgur or https://0x0.st, since they retain the quality compared to other image sharing sites
