Thoughts on the claim that Google docs is deleteing documents that go against their TOS?

Ugh. Now I have to copy my stuff to local drives just in case... Was nice being able to write on my phone and edit on my laptop while it lasted...

Edit: Oh wait - article is from 2017. Old news since resolved AFAICT. No need to panic but do need to be careful, just in case.

They've been doing that for ages mate. At least for copyrighted materials and porn. But I 'spose they put some serious energy into upgrading their algorithms if it has become more prevalent.

Thank you for reassuring me and for the information. I really didn't want to go back to things like Word or Open Office. For the reasons you mentioned, Google Docs is just too convenient and it significantly boosts my productivity. I really didn't want to give it up.

Recently an issue has come up claiming that Google began deleting people's documents that go against their TOS due to causing AI training issues and a few other things. As a result, many people have lost writings for containing descriptive nudity, offensive language, copyrighted material and more. There are a few discussion on it in other webnovel forums but haven't seen anything here yet.

This is just one site talking about it.
It is true. Which is odd, because Google is likely to be split up based on the Anti-Trust lawsuit they're facing. But Google and Microsoft are genuinely evil fucking companies

The training the AI part wouldn't bother me if it were optional, but as it is not, I am disturbed. This is a blatant invasion of privacy and disgusting level of censorship for no good reason. It appears it is time to migrate.
