Thoughts on my story cover and title?

I think it just a matter of personal taste. Hathnuz says its because that's how you'll reach webnovel readers specifically on this site.

Ofc, that may not mean everyone's particular taste is like that nor is it for every author but props to them for tryin to come up with titles for you. I think your title is good. Its good for a fantasy theme and it doesn't tell the whole story plot in one title. Part of the charm of reading a story is to find out more about what the story is about. Its just your title is too big font size and its all in one line so its better to put it on two separate lines.

Sir, here you go. Ik this site is not for everyone, and personally some story ideas i have may not fit here. But never know until try it out and finish it. I would suggest finish the story first and put it on a writing platform if you want reader feedback. Here is a site that gives you critique: https://www.scribophile.com/ Also, I heard people who do want to write stories and then later publish them...they may have some trouble with that because publishers don't want their already published stories somewhere on the internet, they want something not published before although you can push to see if they do take it. Ofc, this is just what I heard about others.

Its probably unintentional, but just fyi, you may've come off a bit curt to those who are trying to help when you kinda of lash out at the platform you're trying to build yourself up on. But then again, you taste may differ from that of others here. You can try to make a full break at it before stopping midway or search up for some places. I think RR, though heard lot bad, also heard its very into fantasy stuff and the expect you to be expert writers so maybe they might have some critique for you there? I'm not sure.

I am just really bad when it comes to discussing things I find in poor taste. I really am antithetical to most tropes people like on here. I do not like erotica at all. I think that power fantasy is lazy. I think that gender bend is weird. Anime is just not my thing.

The reason I am on this site is because I actually get some views and feedback. Wattpad, though again, not much like my genre, did have more fantasy and sci-fi. Then the forums were yeeted out of existence because someone complained after their feelings got hurt by a forum user and threatened to sue or something.

The site also is just so old it is impossible for new stories to gain a lot of traction anymore.

Inkitt is just terrible. My computer just freezes as it tries to load the pages on there.

Fictionpress is horribly archaic, I can't stand using the interface. I can only get feedback through direct messages, which probably doesn't not improve chances of it happening.

Royal road does have more fantasy and sci fi, but it has been extremely hard to gain many views on there. Plus, it seems to share much of the same audience as scribblehub.

So that's why I'm here. If more people IRL read my stuff I probably wouldn't be.

It's alright. I'm not into isekai or litrpg or harem or fanfction. I don't really go out of my way to read smut either. Granted, I haven't read much lately, maybe someday I'll branch out but for now, I'm going to be more focused on writing and I like thinking about reading and writing in fantasy too. So I have come to think of it as webnovel genres vs traditional genre types. What is specified as a webnovel genre here may not exactly be a genre in the traditional sense, or if it is, its probably a sub-genre under a more general genre in the traditional main stream I guess.

Not exactly. Wattpad is still a somewhat good place to get noticed by publishers cause I heard some stories actually got made into published books and movies from that platform. I'm not sure and have some doubt about other platforms having the same thing. Yes, even if its a miniscule chance, its still a chance to get noticed by an actual publisher than none.

Inkitt has so little markdown editor, even worse than Wattpad unfortunately. I've only tried it briefly on its app. Don't know why it need to be a separate reading app and a separate writing app. Dislike it so don't use it really.

Yeah, I'm not that interested in fictionpress's interface. It just isn't appealing to me. I like pretty shiny user-friendly and modern look. :D

Probably because isekai and litrpg. Though I think someone once mentioned in another thread that there's been a lot of rejects from RR and other places lately so they have been filling here with their stories, but eventually after a while there will be some real good storywriting on here from the next batch of people who join.

So that's why I'm here. If more people IRL read my stuff I probably wouldn't be.

Y'know I think I can feel your frustration. Sadly I think Wattpad is better for you if you want to get noticed by a publisher and it has more fantasy genres even though it takes more time to get noticed. If there was a better more interesting writing platform, I wouldn't mind checking it out. But here is here. So gonna ride it and see how it goes. Ngl, there's a chance I may become salty too if I ever do write some story ideas down here (but I procrastinate and am really lazy so haha...like that's anytime in the near future).

I like the art on the cover, but the writing feels like it's occupying a very small portion of overall thing. I think someone here mentioned that a staggered Title would be good. Also, adding your name to the mix in a stylized way would make it look more complete.

You can try Canva and see what you can achieve with the free stuff. There is a LOT of things you can try there.

I'll remind you that the cover will be resized on this site. I would keep a very bold and visible title, depending on the mood of your novel, on top. High contrast is a good idea.

I think a lot of these writing platforms, in order to get noticed by a lot, you must read and comment a bit. Its how it is on Wattpad too. Read some top and trending books or many stories in general and leaving comments here and there. Eventually people will get curious and want to look at your profile and see what works you have.

So online writing platforms - to get critque and attention on your work, you must also look at others work. Scribophile is like that I've heard - in order for someone to critique your story, you need to rack up points or "karma" reading others stories and giving feedback too.

What I usually do is browse writing subreddits like r/fantasy r/fantasywriters r/writers even r/wattpad, etc and look for some discords. You may find some who belong to the group you wish to cater your story more. There's quite a few wattpad discords mentioned on the Wattpad reddit; while I know you may not be interested in Wattpad Writer's Treehouse on neighbor's channel has bunch of links to several discord servers that cater to writing groups so you may get critique or find someone of similar interest in there. DM if you want the links. I just joined a bunch of these today, but have yet to figure out how good it is for now.

Scribes and Scribblers seems like a nice sizeable discord server so probably will find quite a bit on writing there.
