the whole thing "AI does all the work," is a myth and a lie here's why

You know you have to create work that appeals people
Atleast here on SH people are not really appealed by AI-Genreated work nor Ai-Assisted work

That's another reason I might suggest they go to AI Dungeon or NovelAI instead of sticking around here. Creators on those platforms get a lot more out of this sort of thing, and the players based there will be overjoyed when a creative mind starts up scenarios.

I don't like AI writing.

At this point in time, it's extremely easy for me to see if a story I'm reading has AI influence/is written by AI. It's the little things in the text, the way characters react, move, speak. I can even tell that your opening post was at least assisted by AI.

The only way for me to enjoy an AI written story? You'd have to wipe my memory and tell me that AI doesn't exist, so I wouldn't know a story could even be written by AI.

do you think I should actually practice Duelling on AI related content and non-related content properly? should I do a poll for it? I can practice writing on my own if I could help it. I remember when I first started writing at seventeen, I would get so sick and tired of writer's block to the point of abandoning or deleting the story AI has helped me a lot to work and edit on stories I thought of as a idea.
Yeah, I get you. Writer's block is a bitch and no one likes it, but getting over it is also an important skill and helps you evolve as a writer. Personally, some of my biggest developments have come from fighting through writer's block. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know if I used a shortcut like AI to get past it, I definitely wouldn't have learned as much as I did.

Unsure what you mean by "dueling" though. Do you mean writing combat scenes? If so, I think reading some combat scenes from published novels would help a lot as well.

I love how brutally honest this community is this is why I want to do my own research on AI related content as much as I can and see what makes people tick involving such content I need your thoughts if I should practice duelling AI related content and non-AI relate content (I love the name you came up with Snogglefart Dooberdick is such a cool name if you ask me)
Duelling them both?

Sure, go on. Gonna watch from the sideline.

Would be interesting, tbh.

Like what? asking for a friend lol.

Sure. We got some stuff here that's torture porn, rape, mind controlled victims experiencing shit they wouldn't normally but eagerly because they are compelled through a mental urgency, normalized categorizing of races in dystopian systems where people are nothing more than objects, and more. Those might still exist here, but I was just informed that a lot of them were also translations, so a majority might've disappeared.

This right here. I came across a story a few days ago that has a few decent first chapters, and halfway through chapter 4 or 5, I can immediately tell that they gave up writing and just copied and pasted whatever ChatGPT vomited out. Immediately kill my mood for the better half of an hour after that.

AI is a really cool technology, but I don't believe it belonged to the creative field, where most of the joy is in the creation process, where you decide to share and express yourself through a chosen medium. To use AI, in my opinion, is to show your lack of respect for your reader and yourself.

You are insulting your reader, who chose to read a story produced by an author with a different life experience, a different world view, whose mind operated differently. An author's story is a glimpse into their own soul, their own worldview, their own idea, their innerself that they decided to share with you, the reader. By involving AI, it removes so much of the 'soul' of a story, and to me, it wasn't worth it anymore. I would rather read something unpolished, a little raw, but full of creativity and struggle of someone else who is trying to grow, not by using a shortcut, but by their own effort.

And I say this as someone who developed their own machine learning neural network (it is really cool and nifty, and fun) for other applications.

Oh thats good. I'm actually tired of that kind of stuff being so prevalent.

AI or not, readers are reading on this site for free. I don't think that makes much sense, and it sounds entitled. There’s a big difference between someone who knows how to use it and someone who doesn’t :blob_blank:

OP say fellow authors in this community should be like a family.

I disagree. there are friends, acquaintances, comradery and people I respect.

But I see us all just people walking the same road.

We are ALL fighting for our lives, each just trying to survive.

And you know what? if one of my fellow travelers turns out to be a cannibal and like to fucks chickens every night, I am going to tell him to stay the fuck away from me.

If he tells me fucking animals is the only way he can keep walking and eating his friends is the only way he could sustain himself.

I will NOT go "Hey you know it will taste better with some salt and teriyaki sauce. Have you considered a pressure cooker?"

NO.

I'd tell them, maybe this journey is not really for them. and tell them should probably to go home.

Not even Caesar's legion dared to go that far... I think.

You know what i find real funny, those people who say "me no use AI" then go on to say "but i use an LLM for x y and z". :blob_dizzy:

Yeah, it is.

Now... hey, @tigerqueen334 , we are aware you stated that you use AI rather than the other way around. We're not speaking of you here; you were transparent on using AI in your first post. I'm making it clear here before there is an argument about that specific detail. We're talking about others who are under some self-delusional, main character syndrome symptom of belief that everyone but themself is an idiot.

To be 100% clear here: I am targeting folks who pretend they had nothing to do with AI in whatever prompted content they generated, then they start backpedaling when we all start calling them out on that bullshit. You didn't do that, @tigerqueen334 . That's why I am making it as clear as possible before somebody gets the wrong idea here.

I personally am very pro-AI, it's just people have to learn how to use it properly and if it does all the work then, good? As long as the work's good.
