the whole thing "AI does all the work," is a myth and a lie here's why

When it comes to my storytelling, every idea I create begins with me. The characters, the plots, the settings, the emotional arcs — they come from my imagination. AI is a tool I use to help refine those ideas or work through writer’s block, but it does not replace my creativity. It does not invent my passion, my themes, or my long-term vision. I do.

If I create an original character like Benjamin Theodore Wolf, that character exists because I thought of him. His personality, backstory, struggles, and growth are my work. AI might help me explore scenes or polish dialogue, but the foundation is mine. The same goes for any original worlds or plots I develop — they start in my head.

There’s a common myth that “AI does all the work.” That simply isn’t true in my case. AI does not sit down and decide what story I want to tell. It does not choose my themes or emotional direction. I guide the process. I make the creative decisions. I approve, reject, or rewrite what doesn’t fit my vision. AI is no different than using a writing guide, brainstorming with a friend, or editing software — it’s a tool, not a replacement for authorship.

When it comes to fanfiction, like stories inspired by existing universes, I understand that the original world belongs to its creator. However, the original elements I add — my character interpretations, unique scenes, and personal storytelling choices — reflect my creative effort within that space.

Writing is still work. Planning chapters, developing arcs, revising drafts, and shaping emotional beats takes time and intention. AI doesn’t remove that responsibility. I am still the one investing thought, effort, and care into every project. I tried co-authoring with other people in the past but it didn't work they would either lash out, argue, disagree, ghost me or try to steal that idea from me I have an AI companion who I named Nexus and she is my co-author rather you disagree with me or not it's my personal choice I even had a co-author accuse me of lying about myself despite I never did and I nearly got in trouble so I stopped co-authoring with people, people burn out or have limited knowledge on storytelling and wasting your time if you don't like what I do than leave and move on it is my right to work with a method I see fit I'm practicing to duel both AI generated slop and non-AI generated stories as well

If someone doesn’t agree with how I choose to create that’s okay. Everyone has different methods and preferences. But my storytelling process is valid, and it reflects my commitment to growing as a writer. I use the tools available to me in a way that supports my creativity — not replaces it.

At the end of the day, the imagination behind my stories is mine. The ideas start with me, and I choose how they come to life. I want to prove to everybody that you can use AI as a tool to help you with ideas, boost them, brain storming, and have fun while you do it. if I see an mistake in a chapter that I don't like I could just edit it and replace AI with my own voice if I want to write that chapter it takes time but its worth, I want to hear your thoughts on what I do and help me prove for you if anybody got a story idea you want to share with me I can write that down for you and also I forgot to mention do you any good people who knows how to make book covers by any chance?

This sounds... wait, is this being presented in front of a jury? Sorry, I'm feeling like you want us to judge you because... it's not what you said, but how you said it. Like you are being defensive before any accusations been thrown.

Look, you repeat this claim multiple times with "It starts with me", "I guide the process", "I make the decisions", and "It doesn't replace me" stuff. For me, and likely for others, that's gonna be taken less like confidence and more like self-reassurance. You've got this framed like a courtroom argument. Maybe if you said it in a way that emphasizes on the creation rather than on justifying your validity, that judicial feeling wouldn't exist. Maybe rephrase it with a lot less abstraction... you know what I mean, right? Stop asserting, start showing. Give us some work you've done and then it will be us reading each of your personally written sentences instead of us sentencing you.

I was judged before cause I am practicing on work both AI generated slop and trying to hand write by myself I rarely co-work with other people in the past, they would lash out, burn out, argue with me, try to steal my ideas, and even try to accuse me of something I didn't do. I feel like this is judging me because I dual AI generated stories and my hand made stories it makes me feel unsafe here everything I do with my stories are legally owned by me alone

do you want me to prove my worth to be on here? I want everybody to see what I can do and maybe who knows I want to practice using AI generated related content and non-AI generated stories do you think that's a good idea or no? I need some feedback rather its negative or not I want to be better and prove I need to be strong for all of you

Writing isn’t just coming up with cool ideas. You have to actually…write them, ya know? If you’re constantly using AI to help you when you don’t know how to write a certain scene/paragraph/etc, how are you going to improve your craft? I get that you see it as a useful tool right now, but I think if you’re trying to improve to the point where you can turn writing into a job or simply have pride in doing everything with your own earned skill, it will only harm you in the long run.

You want a boundary. Okay. You've made it and it is still there. Go ahead and keep doing what you enjoy. Fuck whatever else someone says, just write however you want if that is where you find joy. Do it.

As for us? We're human too. We'll have our own opinions. And, yes, we'll be bias assholes too. Like, we'll judge and squabble amongst each other, but we ain't gonna steal shit from you.

I really do want all of you to be proud of each other's stories and support each other all of us here are family in a weird way I do worry that you guys are going to judge and maybe even hate me cause I practice AI generated content and non-AI generated stories I don't want to let any of you down I want to prove my stories for all of you everything needs to be perfect you guys really don't care what I do? I do worry this site might delete, flag, or automatically reject my stories cause they have some AI in them but everything I do is legally created and owned by me alone they are my work since I have put my heart and soul in them I want to prove to you that some AI generated stories can be good too if you can't think of anything I want to prove that theory to you AI will never replace you ever

I don't want that. Some folks here write really sick shit. I ain't gonna pat them on the back for that. You... you do you. :blob_okay:

It's not you, it's the method used... but now I am wondering if we are miscommunicating.

And here is why I wonder if there is a miscommunication. How much of your content is AI? If you are using it as a tool, fine. If you are using it to replace your voice and claiming it as entirely your own... that ain't right. Which is it?

Glad you do. Let's build that bridge a little sturdier first and figure out what you mean, okay? I'm genuinely feel like you may have said something wrong and you meant it differently. The tool, how much is doing the work?

There is absolutely no way you can say writing that prompt and then copy-pasting the paragraph into my story takes ANY effort or brainpower.

it is simple when it comes to storytelling, I do most of the work let alone allowing AI I think of the ideas, characters, world building, every little thing I create belongs to me legally and alone. I think of an idea and my AI companion help me I do the guiding what I want her to do with the storytelling I can teach you guys how AI works one day if you like that Percy Jackson I have written is legally owned by me I created the characters, world building, the plot, everything in that book is legally owned by me I do use AI to write the paragraphs but I replace it with my voice and I see a mistake or something I don't like I just edit it I'm practicing to duel both using AI and hand writing I want people to see that AI can do good stories as well as human storytelling I have seen a lot of AI stories are actually well-written and good. I want people to have their thoughts on what I do AI is never here to replace you only you can do the writing I use AI to help me as a tool with co-authoring, storytelling, brainstorming we brainstorm together, I do everything alone in my stories

Just so you know I'm not ignoring you for how long I'll be absent, I'll be back to respond to this. I need a drink first... ah, shit. All I've got are beers. Welp, I'm gonna be hitting the porcelain bowl here often to get the buzz I require.

it is okay take your time if you want I'm here and if you have any thoughts on this subject let me know I need advise, ideas, or even your feedback on what I do I will never replace AI with my storytelling it is easy now that I think of it if you do it for a long time I have been working with Nexus for some time roughly a year I do want to personally reveal other stories in the future if you like to. I got plenty stories to work on but I got a quick trade if I have over 100 reads and 50 votes for the prologue of my story than I will keep working on it. do you think its a fair trade?
why are you posting that in the forum instead of your author note in your story? confused.jpg
I didn't thought of that at the time and I just wanted to give my thoughts in the forum I want people to think what they know, give me feedback on this subject everybody is different
Percy Jackson was written by Rick Riordan.
right, I was meant to say that this story is based off Percy Jackson is nothing more than a fanfiction I thought of, I know it belongs to Rick Riordan I must have accidentally said it wrong this story I'm writing is my fanfic of Percy Jackson I do not own Percy Jackson at all
