I can still write, I wrote 1,5k words this very morning, but then... nothing. I just feel so unmotivated. How I wish I haven't counted my stories. For the past three years, my goal was 100 stories written and completed. Only in the last couple of months did I up it to 1,000 books.
My brain snorted at that, and didn't give the update to my motivation. And so, I can say goodbye to my 5k word days. One chapter per day, more time to read, and do listening practice. Good thing that there are so many creepypastas on YouTube.
I already miss my productive days. Hopefully, I will get back in the mood to write a lot one day. But for today, I will just read and listen to music.
What do you do, after you have reached your goal, and your brain doesn't allow you to update it?

I don't look at numbers. Don't have a goal either besides wanting to tell a fun story.

Will it be 100 chapters? 200? 300? Or in book terms, will it be 1 volume? 2? 7? I don't know, I'm just telling the story I want.

Numbers be damned.

Maybe instead of doing a goal of 1000, do a goal of 200? You’re looking at a goal of 30-ish years, right? Very few people have such obscene motivation for such a long-term goal. No wonder you don’t have the motivation to up your goal to that!
When I reach my goal, I typically take a nap to refresh myself. Or, if there is a particularly long dry spell in writing, I have a mental breakdown, which, if I’m not too tired, will help me break through the ending of motivation after reaching a goal. Or, I’ll just listen to music and try to get writing out of my head for a day or two.
Enjoy your music! Hope it’s super relaxing and relieving of stress! Hope it’s everything you could have in a day!

One good thing about this break thing is, that I made killer steaks! Juicy, well done, and just salty enough, to melt in the mouth. Also, I cleaned the rooms of the first floor, as I waited for the steaks to get done. Not gonna lie, I had to make pauses every 5 minutes or so, to turn them around. I use a pan for grilling. What do you use for grilling?

I think you're pushing yourself way too hard (says the person simultaneously writing four different stories). Enjoy that break to its fullest.

I just got an idea for a new book, and I already wrote the synopsis in 4thewords. That said, I think I will do my best to start writing longer chapters, like 2k or even 3k, for example, so I won't spam my readers. I still have a couple of chapters to write for my current project, but the idea is saved, and that is the important part!

My average is about 2K words a day, though i rarely keep track of that. I focus more on story points to get to each week. it helps keep me motivated to think of it in terms of "three more chapters to the big fight", rather than "only another 6k words and I'll be at the big fight!"

I focus more on the story itself. does it flow well? does it make sense in it's own context? and when i reach a natural stopping point, I end it. though, admittedly I learned all this writing my second story posted here. I'm still planning to update my first (Lay the Dragon. not in my signature) as that one i was too focused on simply getting the story out, i forgot to factor in pacing, worldbuilding, etc. so that all comes in the rewrite.
